LRCW Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Graves Co. 28 Russell 13 with about a couple of minutes to go till half.
The Scribe Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Graves County is shooting 69-percent from the field and leading 28-13 with 1:38 left in the first half
firstregionking Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 32-13 Graves at the half. Zach Sims has 18 points at the break.
Tubbyball Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Could be another 24 point performance by the Red Devils
The Scribe Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Graves has hit 13 of 18 from the field, while Russell has hit 4 of 20. The opening round has not been kind to Graves County in the past but that looks to change this year.
Jim Schue Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Courtside update: Graves County's size inside is killing Russell. Zach Sims has 18 of GC's 32 points. Russell also having trouble dealing with GC's defensive pressure.
Jim Schue Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Russell looks overmatched, and Graves has forced everything out onto the perimeter.
The Scribe Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Russell is making their first state tourney appearance since 1972, when they beat Breathitt County for their only touurney win. Graves County has not won a first round game since 1997 when they beat Mason County in the first round. That was their only first round win.
LRCW Posted March 15, 2006 Author Posted March 15, 2006 The last time Russell made the Sweet 16 they upset 16th region favorite to win the Region. Anybody want to take a guess who played on that Ashland team?
The Scribe Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Dodd and Graves County coach Alan Hatcher went to the same high school in Logan, West Virginia and know each other coming into the game, Hatcher said.
