You are never taught to be a jerk but you are treated so poorly by so many people (including your superiors and the people you work with) that it takes a special person to rise above it all.

 

Very well put! I was not a cop but I did work closely with them a lot as a firefighter/EMT. You deal with the poopiest of poop every day. It has to wear on a person. Not an excuse though.
