Score is about what I expected.... Glad SW was able to keep it classy with the personal fouls, onside kick and fake punt....

Quick update on Lincoln Arnett the qb for Monroe who was injured in the third quarter. He was taken to the hospital the tingling in his arms has left. They checked his neck and back and have sent him for a ct on his head. His mom posted a picture where he was giving a thumbs up.

 

Prayers for him and his family hate to see any child injured. Hope he has a speedy recovery and is back on the field for Monroe very soon.

Just heard from his mom ct was clear and they should get to go home soon.

Classless....

What exactly was classless? Were there a couple of personal fouls on SW? Yes. But let's not act like kids were throwing punches or anything like that. They were penalties for late hits out of bounds which were close and could have been no calls. The one on Monroes QB shouldnt have even been a penalty. He jumped into the hit which made it look worse. The white hat wasn't even going to throw the flag until the sideline reacted.

 

The "onside" kick happened in the first half and it wasn't an onside, it was a pooch kick that went to the second level of your return team and the Monroe player didn't come up with the ball. Last I checked it wasnt the responsibility of the other team to keep your team in the game. If you don't like the score, get better. SW put their JV offense and defense in a large portion of the second half and Monroe didn't. Is that classless too?

 

I'm glad the Arnette kid is ok. I never want to see a kid get hurt.

FYI...that was the Monroe JV..they have 14 kids out for season! Arnette and Rich are only skilled offense that is starters. The receiver core are freshman. I am just calling it like I seen it. No love between these two programs and the no call for out of bounds...he drove him nearly to the bench where we had a clean view! The pooch kick was not a problem for I understand SW has a really good kicker. I am glad this will be our last time dealing with South. The chain gang even apologized for South's dirty play and dropped the sticks where another group took over...after the cheap suplex on Arnette! Watch it again and see if he jumped....no he did not!

You keep coming up with excuses to try to cover their play. They played bad and lost. Did the personal penalties and pooch kick affect the outcome of the game? Would it be classless for SW to boot it to the goal line and they fumble the ball there ?

No don't get me wrong...South Warren is a very good football team! Monroe is not because of things unknown to us and injuries. No excuses for the loss, even a healthy Monroe could not beat South this year, but there are those teams you play that just bring out the worst in even a good kid...South has been our team! Just glad it's over!!!!!

TS I understand what you are saying there. I wonder if it may have been some of the pressure put on both teams over the past four years as to what the game meant district and playoff wise. I know for the fact over the past three years there has been mutual respect between Petett and Nelson and I wouldn't think it would change with Smith and Grissoms connection for this year.

But I think going in three years ago Monroe handed it to south and from then it was a kinda put in order to be the best you have to beat the best and that happened to be Monroe. That sometimes gives rise to a higher intensity from the fans and players that gets a little out of hand. Honestly being from Monroe and having kids that go to South I have witnessed things on both sides that doesn't make me proud.

Very well said...I am a proud Monroe Fan and parent, but I know when I am in the wrong and I usually never post negative on boards. I think the pressures of this season and huge amounts of injuries have led to a fan meltdown. I know I am in that place and everyone around me seems to be the same.
