2014 KHSAA Soccer Stat Leaders

Featured Replies

IMO these stats mean very little... High School soccer teams differ greatly from school to school, district to district, region to region... It's impossible to know the standard of games, level of competition, quality of team and players. Sorry if that sounds cynical, just being factual.

I agree. Just posting it to get the chatter going. :)

Chatter Chatter Chatter Chatter Chatter...... Thanks for posting Hoops 5.

Glad to see a couple of NKY kids, and schools, listed.

I was very surprised to see so little representation from NKY, but even more so from the soccer powerhouses in Louisville and Lexington. My guess is that the competiton is more intense and the teams are more evenly matched in those areas, which calls for lower scoring games, therefore lower stats.

I agree hoops, I think that the games in these areas are more closely contested and it limits the "padding" of stats. I also feel that it makes for some more exciting soccer as well!!!

I looked at the team level in scoring about a week ago.......MoCo had scored 90 goals.......they had 4 games that were won 10-0.....

From scores I have seen when they have played teams up here, it isn't because of superstar talent........so numbers are skewed.......just an example of not being able to just use numbers....not a shot at MoCo.

You also have coaches that have different approaches......some will keep the star in and let them score without limit, while some will play JV when they can........this also skewes it....

You have to look at everything......

The individual stats mean so little. Lopsided games, weak opponents, how quickly a coach goes to the bench, and the caliber of own teammates - it all helps pad stats for some players, and take away from others.

The only team stat I think is somewhat reliable is goals allowed.

Another reason that you don't see many kids listed from Louisville and Lexington teams is that many of those coaches simply do not enter or submit individual stats.
