Based on previous posts, seems there's some drama re-surfacing before this match-up from the Highlands side. NC won 1st meeting 2-1. Haven't both teams already qualified for Regional? And which team will the weather favor?

There has been drama all season, less talk because everyone is just tired of it. I mentioned it last night because it is just unbelieveable that so many girls upset with coaching staff after a 10-0 mercy game. You hate to hear so many players just wanting the season over. Still more players talking about not coming back out next year and hearing younger middle school parents saying their kids not sure they want to continue with soccer with all that is going on and might go play vollyball instead.

Weather no factor. Both have qualified, winner will play lower seed. In first match-up Highlands gave up a goal in first 30 seconds and feel like they never recovered. Coaching staff has to have them ready for Zimmermans throw ins which they did not do first go around. Highlands has shown they can play and beat anyone in NKY if the right team shows up and coaching does their job of having the team ready, just not sure which team shows up.

Question for other teams? Do other teams coaches game plan for upcoming opponents? Or do they just practice with no mention of who they are playing next, who the top players on the up coming game are, how to defend against certain players, defensive weakness of up come opponents, ect. Highlands coaches do not discuss up coming opponents and thought that was odd.

Absolutely crazy. They game plan for every upcoming team they play. That is just nonsense.

If there were 6 girls crying after the game last night then please tell us why? I can also tell you this, I can tell you that the majority of the current 7th and 8th graders that played this year will be back along with several more girls who will be in the 8th grade class next year. Please don't try to tell me I don't know what I am talking about. I have two daughters on that freshman team. That should give you some insight on who I am. Sure, I have heard there were some of the high school girls who were not going to tryout next year, oh well. That is their choice. This team will move on without them. Game plan for Zimmerman's throw ins? Hey, here is a game plan...mark a girl like you have been taught since you were 9 years old and don't let them get to the ball. There is not some special defense to put in place to defend throw ins and corners. You mark your girl tight and clear the ball out if it comes to your feet. Match up size and strength and double team someone if needed. Every team in NKY knows she has the best throw in they have ever seen but I am sure they don't spend practices learning to defend it. You would spend time learning to counter attack it.

I've got no dog in the fight but I will say it's been incredibly entertaining reading the Highlands threads this season. From those that I have spoken with, Birdie has been a very accurate source of information to date. Kings has made several good points through the season as well. I would add that most, if not nearly all of the HHS underclassmen will return next year along with a new coach. I predicted this would be a one year coach after watching their first game and nothing I've seen or heard has made me change my mind. If HHS and the parents don't get a new engineer, the train will remain off of the tracks.

I doubt that the gray, gloomy clouds... or the weather for that matter... will affect the actual game. No doubt air traffic control at the heli-pad at Tower Park will be busy as usual. And Thursday odds are that we'll hear about tears and train wrecks regardless of the outcome. But Wednesday, for 80 minutes or so, the players on each team will show up for what should be an excellent game of soccer.

I also have no dog in this fight but I have watched this coaching staff get reamed all year. Did I not just read online somewhere they reached double digit wins for the first time in the last 4 years? Also do they not have the 3rd toughest schedule (maher rankings) in ky? Seems like they took their lumps in the beginning of the year, as any team learning a new system will, and are beating some quality opponents now. As a retired high school basketball coach, I'm guessing most of the negative comments all year directed toward this coach/coaches are coming from parents of kids not getting the playing time they deserve.

BINGO! We have a winner!

I meant to say "not getting the playing time the parents THINK they deserve". As any coach in any sport will tell you, you will never make every parent happy.

You are late to the party, it is not about playing time as it has been told many times. They are playing well and that is why MOST of the parents are not happy about the circumstances surrounding this coaching staff. It is not about winning/losing or playing time. Some very disturbing rummors that if true, parents have every right to be upset. And even if they are winning, this coaching staff does not work well with these girls, it is one thing if it is a few girls complaining, but it is most if not all the team!

You might be right if rummors are true.

If we're being honest it's not really about "deserve"... it's more a matter of entitlement. When a parent invests as much time, money and personal identity into their kid's athletic career, aren't they entitled to see their child be successful?

That's why Club soccer is so much better. When the situation is not right you can simply move your kid to a new team or Club (if you can't get your current Club coach fired).

Seems like you joined to make your points about the great job that is being done at HHS with the girls soccer program. Do not say you have no dog in the fight when it is pretty clear that you do based upon this post. They have reached double digit wins, whoopee!!!!! With what the team had coming back from last year were they not expected to be amongst the top 2 or 3 teams in the region even before the change in coaches? 3rd toughest schedule based upon what? Is the schedule not pretty much the same that it has been over the last several years or at least since Tom Kearns was in charge? Record means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things, it is simply how you are playing at the end of the year just like basketball, right coach? Looking at the KHSAA website and results it would appear that the HHS schedule was a little softer toward the end of the year, is that why they have finally had some success? Time will tell I guess, but that 5-0 beating at the hands of Boyle County sure sticks out like a sore thumb to me.

Wow. It drove me crazy when I coached and it will never change. I follow NKY soccer a little bit as I have a relative that plays...and not for HHS. I just hate to see coaches get blasted on websites when it is usually by disgruntled parents.
