ATLCat Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 Statement win by Belfry against one of the top teams in TN 3A. Belfry digs deep into the depth chart in the backfield and plays bend but don't break defense. CAK turns it over on downs 5 times.. 4 of them inside the Belfry 30. Pirates look good against a very solid team.
gchs_uk9 Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 Pirates look good against a very solid team. I still think Belfry is the odds-on favorite in 3A.
ATLCat Posted October 11, 2014 Author Posted October 11, 2014 I still think Belfry is the odds-on favorite in 3A. Your boys made a nice little move tonight as well! Very impressed! Belfry has major injury issues in the backfield right now. X Willis (HB1) and top backup Caleb Edwards both left in the 1st Half and did not come back. Need them back next week against Lawrence County. Fine game by Corbett at QB. Over 100 rushing yards..same for Taylor. CAK had a great gameplan to stop Hatfield who had around 50 yards and 17 or 18 carries. he did have 2 TD's. Belfry with 380 yards despite the injury issues. CAK's sensational Soph QB Cole Smith (expect him to be playing big boy football one day) goes 28/43 for 303 yards as Belfry played bend but don't break and really locked it tight once the field shrunk. Ray Horton is simply a gamechanger at DT. May have had 4 tackles all night but all 4 were big time including the big stick to seal it shut. He had a big swat and also came up with the pressure needed to force incomplete passes on 4th Down.
UK fball fan Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 CAK is not the CAK of 2011 and 2012, when they had 4-5 D1 prospects and were beating the likes of Alcoa twice a year, but, they're still a very good program and solid team. They're still similar to a 3rd round playoff opponent, so, very nice win by the Pirates. I wasn't surprised they won, but, I expected it to be a 7-14 point game.
