And, since they are all equally good, there is no sense in playing Cov Cath to play better competition. So, maybe they should be playing across the river to play better competition and prepare for the speed of the game.

I agree it does nothing for Cov Cath but with that said how do you seed a district tournament if you do not play? I am in no way affiliated to either team, just trying to figure out the logic of playing GCL teams.

I agree with everything you said. Just can't figure out why you can't "figure out the logic of playing GCL teams." Didn't you just answer that at the beginning of your paragraph?

 

I have no doubt that Holy Cross is much better this year (really all three), and given the current state of CCH health who knows? Might be the year for Holy Cross.

 

I was told that the other teams in the district did not want to play CCH. I could have been mis-informed. Holmes was on the schedule but cancelled because of the heat. You seem to be at a loss why they wouldn't want to play them. Just saying there may be a reason why they didn't want to.

Districts can also draw for seeding......that is what happens in CCH district.......would seeding really matter? Perhaps for second place.....

Funny, if anyone else recalls, there was a poster a few weeks ago who was criticizing CCH for their cupcake district and playing those three teams. Now we have someone asking why we don't play them.

 

CCH plays most of the larger school in N. Ky. with the better programs. Not sure who they leave out each year. In addition, they schedule GCL teams and some other Ohio/Lexington/Louisville teams. Sounds like a good plan to me.

Soccer is a funny game, don't put the ball in the net and it keeps the other team in the game. Not playing downstate teams has no affect on them making it out of the regional. It's just the way the ball bounces. Not playing district teams does not prevent them from advancing, it's the losses in the regionals to Highlands or New Cath, who they already play, that prevents them from advancing.

Outside of clubs, playing better teams give your players more exposure. Sure they can play downstate, but similar competition in Cincy is closer, gets the kids home at a decent hour, and saves on overall costs. Further, it seems these teams are always up for a game, so why not?
