Obviously, it's a really tough season for my beloved Conner Cougars. Hate to see it but...it happens.

It's really easy to show up ready to practice when you know you are going to win or have a darn good chance of winning. Fans are excited. Community excited. You're excited. Easy.

It's TOUGH to show up when you know you're up against it and after giving up 50 the week before.

So I salute EVERY Cougar for showing up and battling. It sucks to go through but there are life lessons to be learned (even though you don't see them when you're 16 or 17).

Let the quitters quit the team. They'll regret it someday. For those that stay...you're part of the fraternity - W/L doesn't matter in the fraternity. We all know what it took.

Well said. I'm personally not a Conner fan but what you said is true. One day the quitters will regret their decision and those that stuck it out will be better for it. Good luck Conner. Even though I don't think you'll be able to hang with S O, I would like nothing better than for those young men to put an upset win in their column and a district loss on S O.

If a kid quits before the season, for whatever reason, that's excusable. But to quit DURING the season, especially your senior year, there's no justification. Boo hoo Little Johnny didn't get his playing time. Deal with it, get tougher, support the team, and enjoy the privilege of being a part of a varsity football team. Shame on the parents for not taking advantage of this situation to teach their son a valuable life lesson. But we know, it's always someone else's fault, especially the coaches, right?

S.O. wins big.

31 to 19 . south Oldham. They are too much for cougars this year ! Keep head up cougars .

South is on its way to three straight district titles. Dragons win big.

Wouldn't be to over confident in that . Scott eagles maybe up to giving you a run for the title this year.

I'm not sure what any players reasons are for quitting a team, and I'm sure none of you do either, with that being said, NOBODY should bash a kid on social media for his/her decisions!! Every week I read peoples thoughts on Conner and I'm sure that everyone's negative comments/thoughts are doing nothing but lowering the hopes of EVERY player on that team... PATHETIC and anyone that participates in the negativity should be ashamed, especially if they are parents themselves!!! We should be lifting up the spirits of the young generation, not destroying them!

Good luck with the rest of your season Conner Cougars, it's not always about pleasing the crowd!!

What if the parents of the person who quit are the main instigators of the public criticism of certain players? Submitting posts on this site ripping other kids (see BigC11) in social media as you say. Also, sitting in the stands yelling at other players and coaches week in and week out. Their actions have been undermining the current players, team, and coaching staff the entire season. You might want to start with them and displace your frustration at them. No one is bashing a kid on here. I would never do that. I simply questioned the judgement and the decision, and as a parent myself, would never allow my kid to quit something halfway through. Terrible precedent.

I wasn't directing it towards any certain person. As I said previously, NOBODY should bash any kid. That goes for whomever is doing so. It's not fair to the kid nor the team. Everybody knows that Conner is in rebuild mode. Every kid on the roster should get a chance to play, win or lose.. That's a team. You have kids going to practice every day, busting their tail, but continue to sit the bench every week. I can understand why kids have decided to dismiss themselves from the team. And as for the parents acting like hooligans at the games, they should be banned. It shouldn't be tolerated, but that just goes to show how mature these adults really are.

Sorry but you are wrong here. This is varsity football, not JV, not Freshman. Every kid doesn't deserve to play. The best kids deserve to play. If a kid works hard and isn't ready for Friday Night Football then they play on Saturday morning to get better. That is there playing time. That is the biggest problem, kids decide to play the sport so are accountable to show up everyday, that doesn't mean they should play. Get our of the pee wee mentality.

I agree 100% with everything you just said. Except the part about every kid should play. This is competitive, high-school, varsity sports. The kids who produce and put forth the effort in practice will play. Simple concept. If you refuse to listen to the coaches, can't grasp the concept, and/or don't want to give 100% you will sit. And sometimes, you might do all of that and the simple fact is someone might outperform you. It's called....LIFE. And life ain't all peaches and rainbows. And sometimes, you can learn more about life by not getting what you want, or in this case, was supposedly expected without ever being earned.

If your team is losing by 4td's with the starters in, then every kid should play!! Simple as that. This isn't politics people.

Or, in Conner's case, the starters and younger players should play as much as possible to gain experience, confidence, reps, and familiarity with each other. Irregardless, of the score.
