Series History: Warren Central leads 18-2 (Won 12 Straight)

Series at Warren Central: Warren Central leads 9-1 (Won 7 Straight)

District play opens and the Dragons host a surging Trojans team on Friday, but the series history, especially late, has belonged solely to the Dragons. In addition to winning 12 straight, Warren Central has outscored the Trojans 612-55 in that streak, an average victory of 51.0-4.6. Barren County has not scored more than 8 points in the last 7 meetings and have only the regular season matchup in 2007 where they scored above that during the current run. Most games between these two get out of hand very early.

But this Barren County team does bring some slight differences to the table. They're 3-1 for the first time since 2005, and had back to back victories over ranked teams in lower classes, knocking off rival Glasgow 14-11 two weeks ago and then completing a comeback 20-17 win over Monroe County last week. Stretching back to last year, Barren County has won 6 of its last 9 games, a tremendous stretch for them. They will still be heavy dogs to the Dragons in this one. Warren Central for their part enters at also 3-1, with only the big loss to DeSales blemishing their record. They fought off a pesky North Hardin team 32-14 on the road, completing a three week stretch that saw them play in Boyle County, Louisville, and Elizabethtown. They finally return home and don't travel outside the county borders except for a single trip to Logan County in October, mostly settling into the friendly confines where they have won 5 consecutive and 24 of 27.

Bump.

Maybe it's just the past history, but better or not, I just don't see Barren County making it the type of game to actually put a scare into the Dragons. Maybe it doesn't get out of hand in the first quarter as has happened some times in the past, but I would be rather surprised if it is much of a game past halftime. Prove me wrong Barren County, prove me wrong.

I can't see Barren County winning this game, but it is really neat to see them have success. Looking back through the records they've only won one playoff game in history, a first round victory over Oldham County in 1992. Hate to see schools struggle for so long.
