It was actually 52-49 when Sizemore got the big block on Crawford. If he goes up strong, he probably draws a foul.

 

The game was called straight-up, no funny stuff. Corbin didn't shoot any FTs in the second half because they did nothing but shoot jumpers.

 

Corbin missed 10 shots inside the paint in the second half, according to the radio station.

There were a few bad calls here and there, but neither team benefited any more than the other from it. It was straight-up.

Yeah, but they weren't taking it all the way in. Those shots were pull-ups from 8-12 feet. They did not attack the basket.

I thought that Corbin played well, 19-4 on Free throws certianly gets you attention......

 

French was a none factor and for Corbin to have been successful they needed him to hit some shots and free up Crawford. Swim could not stop #34 or #42, both had some great moves and makes around the basket. As it was Crawford played his tail end off and refused to give up. He has a bright future.:thumb:

 

Only 6 points combined for Swim and French. Corbin needed one or the other to produce inside, but both had bad shooting nights. They both battled hard on the boards though, which helped keep Corbin close enough to have a shot at winning within the last minute.

I didn't catch the rebound totals, but yeah, Corbin was on the glass pretty hard. Lots of offensive rebounds as well. Les, can you help with the board numbers?

Corbin has struggled against the zone all year. They were not a good jump shooting team and other than Crawford and at times Barley, they could not create much off the dribble.

 

Jones really hurt Corbin in the second half and had an outstanding game for Clay.

Corbin missed several more shots than Clay which led to more defensive rebounds for the Tigers, but I would guess that Corbin had several more offensive boards than Clay.

That makes sense, Corbin has not gotten to the FT line much at all this year and the pull-up jumpers will cause that.

One sequence sticks out: After Clay scored to go up 50-44 to take their largest lead of the game, Crawford got a stickback on the fifth chance to cut it back to four. They were all over the offensive glass.

19-4 enough said...guys you can get handchecked and fouled 8 to 12 feet from the basket same as you can from 50 feet or 2 feet. Good Luck Barbourville on Friday night.
