The definition of wasn't that close. Lex Cath jumps out 1-0 at half on their ONLY shot " on goal" of the game. Misplayed cross by the CCH goalie.

 

CCH had 7 or 8 shots in first half but nothing breaks the plane.

 

Settled down and came out and strong Day, Ballow, and Lilly with the goals.

I think CCH headed for a special season.

Very poor execution by the Colonels on the offensive end of the field in a game that should have been over at halftime and instead they were down 1-0. As mentioned, a single shot on goal by LexCath all night that the CCH keeper couldn't corral and the rebound was knocked in. Constant pressure and possession by CCH gave them multiple point-blank chances in the first half but they could not convert. Second half was no different except they were able to stick a few in the goal. Hopefully they were not happy with this result. Defense played well but they have yet to be tested.

 

CovCath midfield dominated the game again but an area of concern is that of the 8 goals CCH has in two games, all but two have come from the midfield/defense I believe.

I'd agree with that. There was some rust there. CCH has a good team but hopefully they are not satisfied with just being good and focus on these issues. In addition to finishing chances they commit too many dumb fouls in their defensive third which allows free kicks. Both goals they have given up were on free kicks I believe. And a few players who like to dribble too much.

 

Kudos to the CCH soccer moms for providing food to the LexCath players for the ride home.

Very surprised the Colonels are not experimenting with a 4-5-1 actually.

I thought that they did in Soccerama, I have not seen them since then though.

Ballow up top. I don't recall if they tried it at soccerrama or not but I don't think so.

Yes, 4-4-2 currently. Against most teams that is going to work this year. I just think it's worth a shot with more of a target player up there like Patrick that can hold the ball w/ his back to the goal and distribute.

I agree that it is worth a shot, I also feel that this would play into their strength at midfield.
