halfback20
For those who didn't know...the three main actors in the show (Charlie Day - Charlie, Rob Mcelhenny - Mac, Glenn Howerton - Dennis) wrote and acted in their own "pilot" that cost them less than $40. Here's a video about it...
UKFan10
Pretty crazy now that I think about it. Most comedies hit their stride at the 2nd or 3rd season and then by 6 or 7 are past their prime. Considering this show hasn't consistently been good, further proves that it's great. **meant HAS, not hasn't
Mitch Rapp
You're not supposed to like them. You're supposed to laugh at how horrible they are.Just too many horrible characters in one cast. I like my sleazy, unlikable characters in smaller doses. Roy Biggins of Wings and Danny Devito's Louie character in Taxi were two of my favorites. There's just no contrast between the characters on It's Always Sunny...they are all despicable human beings.

BlueTip
Did you start from the beginning? The first couple of seasons are fantastic and have some of the best episodes. It's difficult to name the best episodes of the series, but I will try. Season 1: The Gang Gets Racist Charlie Wants an Abortion Season 2: The Gang Goes Jihad Dennis and Dee Go on Welfare Hundred Dollar Baby Charlie Goes America All Over Everybody's .... Season 3: The Gang Finds a Dumpster Baby The Gang Gets Invincible The Gang Gets Held Hostage The Gang Solves the North Korea Situation Sweet Dee's Dating a Retarded Person Season 4: The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis Mac and Charlie Die (Part I and Part II) Paddy's Pub: The Worst Bar in Philadelphia Sweet Dee Has a Heart Attack The Nightman Cometh Season 5: The Great Recession The Gang Gives Frank an Intervention The Gang Wrestles for the Troops Paddy's Pub: Home of the Original Kitten Mittens Mac and Dennis Break Up The DENNIS System Season 6: Dennis Gets Divorced Mac's Big Break Dee Reynolds: Shaping America's Youth Charlie Kelly: King of the Rats Season 7: Frank's Pretty Woman Sweet Dee Gets Audited The Storm of the Century Chardee McDennis: The Game of Games The ANTI-Social Network The Gang Gets Trapped Thunder Gun Express Season 8: The Gang Recycles their Trash The Maureen Ponderosa Wedding Massacre The Gang Gets Analyzed The Gang Dines Out Reynolds vs Reynolds: The Cereal Defense Season 9: The Gang Tries Desperately to Win an Award Mac and Dennis Buy a Timeshare Mac Day The Gang Gets Quarantined Flowers for Charlie The Gang Makes Lethal Weapon 6 I know...that's a lot. I cut it down too. I like almost every episode. Some I didn't like at first and enjoyed the second time around. Some are instant classics. If you're new to the show, just watch The Gang Gets Racist, Dennis & Dee Go On Welfare, and Sweet Dee's Dating a Retarded Person. If you don't like those episodes there's no point in watching any further.

It has just been snubbed by award shows like all fx shows are. Award shows continue to award unfunny network shows.

I guess it depends on how big the budget is and how you define great ratings, but those are not great numbers, IMO.

FX/FXX must have loved the ratings considering the boat load of cash and new 2 year extension for the show they gave the three stars. They also signed them up to write a new show or two for FX. I guess it depends on how big the budget is and how you define great ratings, but those are not great numbers, IMO. I didn't find the episodes you quoted. I'll take your word. I did see their season premier last year had 2.3 million viewers up from the season before premiere of 2.2 million. If rating went down part of it may of been on fx network change not sure. But every article I Googled talks about how it's one of the best rating successes for a comedy on TV right now.
