How long ago did that change? Just the first example that jumps to my mind is Dennis Johnson who was playing Varsity for Harrodsburg in the 7th grade. Or that was the legend anyway.

It went into effect afterwards. It was kind of called the Johnson rule. There were two Johnson brothers. The way the the story goes they were in the 5th grade and 7th grade playing varsity football.

Here is an example to help explain what I am asking: my kid is in 8th grade and has not played any varsity sports. If I enroll him in a high school outside of his current school system, which would mean he is not going to his feeder school, will he be eligible to play sports his freshman year?

 

I know now when I did this with my other kid, it did not matter, even though she played varsity as an 8th grader. But now the KHSAA has oversight of the middle schools and their was talk about designated feeder schools and transfers going into effect this coming school year.

99.99999% sure (and only because I'm too lazy to look it up) that he's eligible immediately.
