Western Hills 2014/2015

Featured Replies

Basketball season for 2014/2015 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Western Hills Remember, please be constructive.

3-27; 8 seniors; looks like some long years, not days, ahead for Western Hills. Wonder what might be if the Frankfort schools would consolidate in some way.

That will never happen in my opinion, Western Hills and Franklin Co will always be separate. BUT, I know Frankfort was in some deep monetary trouble here a few years back and there was talk of it closing it's doors. I can foresee that being an issue again at some point and if so, somebody could get some good athletes. If that ever happened my guess would be FC would get the bulk of them.

Specifically on WH...saw their freshman team play Anderson Co back during the season. Not much talent coming up through there that I could see. WH will struggle this year and probably for the foreseeable future unfortunately.

County and Hills will never consolidate, and I don't see FHS closing either...

The thought of being associated with County or Hills, yuck. #PantherPride

^^^^^^ But. seriously, from what I was told by a former athletic coach there who was coaching at the time, evidently they were really close to shutting the doors just a very few years ago, big budget issue and pretty much were broke. They got through that, but not sure they could survive another one if it got that bad again.

I think Coach Cody has some positive things going with Western Hills. The record is deceiving as they were more competitive in games later in the season. Because of their numbers, it will be an uphill battle to compete with the titans of the 11th, but I think we'll see improvement next year. I think that one of their better players was a sophomore this past season.

Building the cafeteria there, and the subsequent tuition hikes were a terrible idea for FIS.

That's probably a good point. I wasn't aware of that. I love Joker's Wild but must disagree unless WH really softens up the schedule. They look like they will be zero factor in the district, much less the region.

I think it will be quite an uphill battle to be competitive with the Henry Clay's, etc., but think that Western Hills can be competitive with other schools of a similar size eventually. Unfortunately for them, there aren't tons of schools like that in the 11th, so they'll likely have to play more out of region teams.
