So at one point in the video they point out that Sam is a "true" freshman. I had only heard that used in college when establishing 18 year old freshman versus older freshman who had been red-shirted. I guess that establishes that he is in his first year of high school rather than a holdback taking his freshman year over again?

Not sure why they typed that. You can only play one year for each year of high school, no matter if you were held back or not. I would venture a guess that they meant he was not "ever" held back and is a freshman in the class that he started in, meaning he is 14 going to turn 15, not 15 going to turn 16.

Very good player already and a very good kid. Hope he stays at LexCath for the next 2 seasons, which I think is the plan but you never know when the father is a coach as good as Bill Letton is.

I would thing at this point in the spring and school season. If Coach Letton has not landed a head coaching job by now, then we know that Sam will play his junior year at Lex Cath. Next season is a different story. Coach Letton might find the job and take Sam with him. Hope not
