Strength of Schedule Discussion

Featured Replies

What does it matter if Collins was a one year wonder, they were a good team when they played SK. Now if you are talking about this year, you are right who knows, but that goes for almost all teams.

Hold on a second! The beginning of the season last year all I heard was how Highlands would beat Collins by 40 again. Then the reality check game! :D

You are correct that is what some on here posted.

The most overused comment made/ believed about what it takes to be successful.

80% or more of the schools in the state have never won a title and aren't ever going to. Play a schedule you can compete in/ with flip of the coin chances of winning each year...a couple "gimmes" if you can (Bama does it, and other colleges, why can't so and so county hs in KY?) and MAYBE one or two "challenges if they aren't already in your district.

Winning builds. Going 4-6, but "we played a very tough schedule" doesn't. Nobody cares about that.

This X1000

I was responding to a specific scenario given to me when I made the comment about Grant Cty and Trinity. I do believe there are lessons to be learned and improvements that can be made in matchups like that one. If you ask me is it good for either program, my answer would be no.

Change the teams because that's not a good example. How about Simon Kenton and Bowling Green? Up and coming 6A versus 5A powerhouse. Or Simon Kenton -vs- Male? I'm sure a SK poster will point towards the Collins game as playing a good team, but the jury is still out on Collins. Can they repeat their success or were they a one year wonder?

Wouldn't SK benefit from playing BG or Male?

Yet when you responded to the scenario you said it would benefit Grant Co. And that I was wrong and now in here you said the same thing I said in the other thread, not only are you saying basically the same thing I said there but you pretty much bashed me real good for saying the exact same thing you just said.

Hmmmmm, interesting.

Twist and turn as usual. Maybe you should go reread things before you post.

Here is exactly what I said....

Grant Co could absolutely learn from playing Trinity. The improvement part would then be up to the coaches and players. Identifying the goals before the game and then working towards those goals after the game.

I said almost the exact same thing here. The difference in this discussion and that one is in here I did say it probably wouldn't be a good game for either school. IF they played, both schools would still get something tangible out of the game.

Actually what you said in here is basically what I said in the other thread.

You said in this thread, if you're asking me if it's good for either program I say no.

There is a difference in the thought of if it's good for the programs and if the teams get better from playing the game. My point is yes both teams get better and learn from the game if it were to be played. However, does it make sense for these two particular teams to play? No it doesn't. They are on opposite ends of the spectrum. If the teams are switched to say Moeller and CovCath then they both get something from the game and it makes sense because it works for both in their goals for the year.

But hey, keep twisting and turning to try and support your story.

They do in the playoffs usually.

"Usually"? - if by usually you mean the one time you played St X in 2009 then yeah - I guess that's usually
