Congrats to Laura Finke on her 100th career steal!!!! Graybill makes a great throw and Finke makes and even better slide to sneak in for number 100. No wonder she has 100! Congrats Miss Finke!

These might get taken down because of the watermark. But it was a heck of a steal so I thought I'd put them up.

Ball is there. Might have been a little short. Hard to tell from behind center field fence. Finke goes out, under, and then back for the bag.

 

A few from the rest of the game. Getting decent fielding pictures at NDA's field is tough.

 

Love your pictures! IMO the photo's clear up the questionable calls, that's for sure! If the Birds show up to play, underestimating them could be a big mistake. GO BIG BLUE!

The umpires did a good job making the calls on a couple bang bang plays! Great effort on the steal to avoid the tag which is likely why she has 100 steals. What an accomplishment! It was a well played game and was FUN to watch! Wished we could of played this one in "The Birdcage" but ND field looked to be in awesome condition!

I don't recall any controversial plays. On that steal I could see some fans thinking maybe it was but Finke did a great slide by.

Definitely!~ The plays were great, close plays - My DD (catcher for HHS) was involved with Both, what i felt, questionable calls. The slide by got finke on second, the pics show that bc from the stands the throw was dead on and a great throw from Leighty in Right to the tag at the plate, seemed like it should have gone in our favor. IMO the pictures show that- but the umps dont get the luxory of 12 photos per second photgraphy! I love watching the BIRDS and Panda's go at it! Some really great kids on both teams, very talented atheletes and always worth the price of admission!

It absolutely was a fun game to watch, even though we lost.

It was not a safe night to be a shortstop. Coffey took a beating!

 

I have to agree with the officials last night. They nailed the calls. I don't recall any real controversial calls.

Other than the missed ball on the steal at 2nd, players hit, Coffey goes down, runner gets thrown out at 3rd. Still not clear TO ME what the discussion by the umps was about.

 

The play at home would have upset the HHS crew, but looking at the sequence, she was safe. -at least from my angle/opinion.

NDA probably didn't like a call at first. That was about as close of a call as you can get. (2nd last row 3rd picture) Fraction of a second from being safe.

No real controversy just several bang bang plays that appeared to of been called correctly that could of went either way! The umpires seemed to do a good job of taking their time and got the calls right.

 

1. There was a bang bang play at First where 7th Grader Rachael Gabbard (remember that name) playing 2nd robbed Hailey Smith of a hit up the middle where she dove to her right and threw from her knees. You can see in the picture ball in the glove as her foot is coming down on the base. Not Controversial just one of those that can go either way and he got it right.

 

2. The first inning steal where the young lady got her 100th steal. The ball may of beat her there but she slid outside the tag and the tag was literally inches away from her being out! The umpire again did a good job being in the right spot evaluating the play and made the right call which was very close even with the pictures!

 

3. Another steal attempt at second and there was a collision which resulted in the ball going into center field when the girl tried to advance to third she was thrown out at third by Ashley Grosser from Center Field. Discussion on whether interference. The Umpires discussed and decided she was out.

 

Both teams played hard which usually makes for close calls and I am simply saying the umpires seemed to of done a good job! That might of been a first for me to compliment the umpires, so I will stipulate they were not perfect and may of been a little inconsistent on a few low strikes against both teams just so no one thinks my account has been hijacked!

Liking the love for the umpires ! Sounds like I missed a great game and would have expected no less from two quality teams. Had I known about this on the schedule, I would definitely have been there to see it. Got to get my schedules together !
