Bardstown 61 Elizabethtown 44 (5th championship)

Featured Replies

Tigers got off to a hot start and dominated from start to finish.

Great effort, guys!

The one year I don't enter the Sweet 16 contest after picking Bardstown at least a couple of years in a row and look what happens. Congrats!!

Whoa! Was E'Town at full strength?

Congrats to the Tigers! :thumb:

I don't believe so, the big kid still favored his knee after hurting it last night against Taylor. Number 4 also was wearing a cast on his shooting hand and that may or may not altered his shot.

Harding still played pretty good. He may not have been 100% but he definitely was feeling a lot better than in the second half last night.

Even if both were at full strength I don't know if it would have closed a 16-point gap. Nobody from E'town -- hurt or not -- was hitting shots, and the Bardstown defense had everything to do with that.

E'town shot just 32 percent from the field and 14 percent on threes. Tigers hit for 52.4 percent in this game and were 70-for-139 overall (50.4 percent) for the three games in the tournament.

Cotton was the only double-figure scorer for E'town with 15.

Tavon Johnson led Bardstown with 16 points and also had 4 rebounds and 4 steals. He scored nine of the Tigers' first 10 points and dished out an assist as Bardstown got off to a 15-6 start. E'town never got closer than seven after that.

Seivon Schooling had 6 points, 10 boards and 3 blocks, and dominated inside defensively with several other altered shots.

Keanu Young went for 14 points, 3 steals and 2 assists, and LJ Cowherd tallied 9 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Nico DeVillalobos also came up big, with 9 points, 5 boards and 2 assists, all of them coming at key times.

Just an outstanding all-around effort for the Tigers in this tournament, winning the three games by an average of 15.7 points per game. That's pretty impressive.

Looking back at the schedule, Bardstown doesn't really have any losses that jump out to me as "bad".

Is it settled that E-town was at full strength during this game?

They were beat-up, but the way they shot I don't think it closes a 17-point gap. Bardstown was ON, defensively and offensively.

Gotcha.

Will their press be a factor against a team like PRP?

If they play like they did in the regional and get the Panthers out of their comfort zone. I expect a fast-paced game and if Bardstown can dictate tempo and neutralize PRP's bigs they can win.
