Championship of the 54th District.

Perry County Central took 2/3 from the Bulldogs this season. Hazard's only win against PCC was in the WYMT Classic @ Knott County Central.

Perry County Central (21-7) averaging 69 PPG......Hazard (24-6) averaging 68 PPG

Thoughts?

I think PCC has the better talent,,but I will go with Hazard by 3,,gut feeling....

Perry has to rely mostly on the play of two players, Beverly and Johnson. Hazard is a little more spread out in their point production from their team. I have a feeling Perry will win by 2 to 5 points, but if Hazard gets hot from deep, and also gets a good game from Hudson, the Bulldogs could win.

I keep going back to the fact that they won the WYMT Mountain Classic, which had a good list of teams, and the top teams in the 14th all playing in it. Hazard has been in the discussion all year with the region's Big 4 but seem like they've been mostly the outsider with all the drama going on with the other 3. They're a team that could be at Rupp Arena as easily as any of the other 3.

Like many, I think PCC has more talent top to bottom, but man, Big Al in tournament basketball in the 14th. What about him, hey?

I pick Hazard and my favorite player in the 14th, Chris Hudson (he's a GAM), to pull it out.

H-town is well coached and will make PCC grind it out and play their game.

Home court advantage, Big Al, Chris Hudson? Gimme H-town in the upset.

Side note, I sat near a prominent KY college coach at the Republic Bank and heard him remark about much of the same on Hudson. I think we saw a lot of the same qualities in the kid.

Hudson's future might be on the gridiron (and hey, he's a Texas kid, which I know a little about, however, I've never seen him catch a pass, so I can't say other than)... but if he looks like the kind of football player I think he could be seeing him on the basketball court, it's scary.

CH's ride might be in football, but he could play basketball somewhere if he wanted to as well. That's a true athlete. If I'm starting a team with any kid in the 14th and I get the #1 overall pick, it might just be Hudson considering the region's depth at guard (Justice, Beverly, Cunningham, etc.). Physically, I think Hudson can take and eat Justin Johnson's lunch and there isn't much anyone can do about it.

Perry Central 59-55.

This team will only be as good as Holland. When Hazard must get the job done he provides the intangibles that makes the Bulldogs work.
