Bardstown 70 Nelson County 54 — 19th District

Featured Replies

Tigers punch their ticket to the 5th Region tournament for the 11th straight year with the win.

Cardinals were spunky in the first half, and went into halftime down just a point. But LJ Cowherd scored 10 points and dished out an assist in the third quarter as Bardstown took control, and their bench wore down Nelson County in the fourth.

Tyler Reynolds was outstanding in a losing effort, scoring 29 after going for 32 against Washington Co. on Monday. Zech Maulden added 16, but only two other Cardinals got into the scorebook.

Cowherd led Bardstown with 20, with 16 coming after halftime, and Tavon Johnson added 15.

Tigers are into Saturday's title game against the winner of Thursday's Thomas Nelson-Bethlehem matchup.

Not a big scoring night with just eight points, but was a big stat-stuffer with 15 boards, three blocks, two steals and two assists.

Cowherd also had six dimes and two steals and two blocks.

I like 15 boards. :thumb:

How big is Cowherd & what position does he play?

He's their PG. About 6'0-6'1 but a strong leaper — got a slam on the fast break tonight and got mugged trying for another. He's turning into a pretty special player with a great feel for the game and what his team needs him to do at that particular time.

The Fightin' Boo Brewer's advance....I love it.

I think I remember him. I only got to see them for a bit, but Schooling & an athletic guard stood out.

Jim, who you picking to come out of the 5th region? It was one of the trickiest regions to pick a winner when I was doing my contest choices. E-Town, Bardstown, and Taylor County all have good resumes.

Too close to call between those three, with John Hardin also in the mix. Depends on who gets hot at the right time.
