Holy Cross gets the win in a hard fought battle and moves on to the 35th district title game versus Notre Dame.

Beechwood led 9-7 at the end of the first quarter and 17-16 at halftime when sophomore guard Macy Stuempel hit a 3 pointer at the buzzer. Beechwood played a packed in zone to try and control the 6'2" twins. With Beechwood's tallest player at 5'9", Holy Cross had a big height advantage. The Lady Tigers packed it in, dared Holy Cross to shoot the ball and it was working.

In the third quarter, Holy Cross finally started getting the ball inside and outscored Beechwood 16-6 to lead 32-23 heading into the fourth quarter. Beechwood got it down to 5 a couple times in the fourth but could get no closer. The big girls were just too much at the end of the day. Congratulations to Holy Cross on battling through for the win. Congratulations to Coach Maile and Beechwood on a very nice debut season leading the Lady Tigers.

A big thanks to Notre Dame Athletic Director for setting us up nicely in the first row of the stands so that we could broadcast game on radio tonight. Couldn't ask for a better seat to call the game.

Also, was nice talking to paNDA prior to the game. Looking forward to seeing his pictures as always. :thumb:

Both ND and HC advance to Thursday's district final at 7:00 pm. (Both teams also advance to next week's regional tourney at BOK).

What does "best match-up" mean? And why 2 years? What happens after 2 years?

I'm with you...what does best matchup mean?

Best one on one match. and after 2 years they go off to college. First time seeing the girl from Beechwood play and she is good. Holy cross's pg is the best pg in the region

Do you not get to see many girl's game? Still when you say best one on one match up, still not sure what you mean. Are you saying they will be the best two teams for the next two years, cause there will be several very good matchups over the next two years.

McClendon is good, but not sure about the best. I guess its what you think is a great point guard. Does she have a chance to be a very good PG...yes...but still has some work to be the best.
