Weeds

Featured Replies

I've heard a lot of good things about both The Wire and Boardwalk Empire... sounds like Weeds isn't going to make the cut!

It really is worth watching the first few seasons of weeds. It is as good as any show you'll find but then it nose dives.

I think that's my biggest concern is that I will get sucked into the show despite knowing that it nosedives then feeling obligated to watch the train wreck unfold just to see how it ends. I don't have too much personal time outside of work, working out, friends/family/loved ones, so I don't want to get too invested in a show if it's not going to be something worth while.

I haven't seen Boardwalk Empire, but I know my Dad loves it and we have the same taste in TV shows. He actually has all the DVDs of it, which I'll probably try to borrow when I finish.

Out of curiosity, who is your cable provider? I ask because if you get HBO, you probably have an HBOGO account where you can watch most of these shows streaming online for little to no additional cost, which would be great for either of them.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought The Wire was better than Oz, Breaking Bad, Weeds, or The Sopranos (the 3-4 seasons of The Sopranos I've seen so far anyway), etc.

I think I've watched the first four seasons of Weeds then gave it up because season 5 was not yet out on DVD. Something sexy about Nancy Botwin.

If you get HBO, you should also have access to HBO On Demand, which allows you to watch every episode from every season of any of their original series. I just finished Game of Thrones, and have started up on Boardwalk Empire. Got The Wire on deck.

This is definitely true. At first glance, you really don't think much of her. But the more you see her, on many levels, the hotter she gets. I watched all of Weeds, and while it did drop off at some point, it was still entertaining enough to keep watching.

I do have HBO... my dad and brothers said Game of Thrones was really good. Been tough to catch all these shows I was trying to catch up on Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy and just kind of got lost in those shows. Somewhere in between I finished Blue Mountain State too.

HBO has a long list of very good shows. Game of Thrones, The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, The Sopranos, Oz, Rome, Six Feet Under, Band of Brothers, Entourage...Just pick an original series and start watching...You'll enjoy it.

Good call. After you've watched it all, check some of the threads I've posted on here for discussion. I've honestly been re-watching single episodes of The Wire.
