Getslow Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Unreal. They're not in a league to compete with Ballard or Trinity in the seventh, but this team is very young and could be showing signs of great things to come next year.
3fromdeep Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Nice win for the young guys. Anxious to get a report from the game.
Randy Parker Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 • Waggener 61, Doss 59 (OT): Semaj Ingram led the Wildcats (13-7) with 13 points, and Devon Cooper, Jalaam Hill and Tony Washington added 10 apiece in the overtime win over the host Dragons (17-6). Doss got 24 points and 15 rebounds from Montrell Little but was doomed by 8-of-20 foul shooting in the fourth quarter and overtime. http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20140211/SPORTS05/302110122/-1/rsslink?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

That they got a new coach three years ago and had a rough couple of seasons. Were the building blocks for something special set in place back then? What kind of talent do they have coming up and expected back next year? See that they are in the 27th with Ballard, Trinity, and Seneca, so I'd expect gaining traction in that district to be a war.

They start 2 SR. the rest of the team freshman and Sophmores or the Louisville Legends AAU team.
6thregionguy Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 The district is Trinity Waggener Atherton Senneca
Getslow Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 What can you tell us about them? That they got a new coach three years ago and had a rough couple of seasons. Were the building blocks for something special set in place back then? What kind of talent do they have coming up and expected back next year? They've got three seniors and two juniors; the rest of the varsity squad is all freshmen and sophomores. Really got going last year with a supremely talented freshman class that's now sophomores. Brandon Wells, Jaalam Hill, Kevin Kirby and Tony Washington are all more than capable of going off for a ton of points on any particular night. They've also got a freshman forward, Devon Cooper, who at times has looked like the best player on the team. But the senior leadership is definitely there as well. They're going to miss Roderick Maddox and guard Semaj Ingram big time when they graduate, but the pieces are there for Waggener to continue its resurgence. I believe Waggener was even missing a couple of those key players last night in the win, but I'd have to check the box score again to remember exactly who. And the posts below are correct, the 27th district is Trinity, Waggener, Atherton, Seneca. Ballard is out in the 28th with Eastern, Christian Academy, Kentucky Country Day and Walden.
faxisfax Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Soph. Kevin Kirby was not in the line score last nite
