What is your opinion on having one tournament in the 9th Region. No Districts, maybe 3 divisions to some seeding. It could be a pre-Sweet 16 for the Sweet 16 with the top 2 teams getting a bye. Here's a rough guess.

It wouls be interesting to say the least.

This would save money on district championship hardware and all-district teams. Unfortunately, I do not see it happening. This is one of those cruel years where one of the top teams in the region will not make it with the Holy Colonels and Holy Cross matched in round one. Unfair but good preparation for life.

It's not about saving money. It would give the 9th region a better chance to win down state by not having a tough game, every game. Lets say CovCath is a heavy favorite this year and has proved it all year long. If we use this format and all the favorites won, they would play the 16th, 8th, 4th and 2nd ranked team in the tourney. It would let the #1 and #2 teams have a couple of games to rest there better players earlier on. Upsets can and will happen!

Not a bad idea but again I see it as another disadvantage for the smaller public schools. They at least now feel they have a chance to win a district champ. from time to time. With this idea that would all but rule that out. On the other hand I see what you are trying to say and think it might be worth consideration.

I think most districts are so small that a district title doesn't mean a whole lot. I'd rather see KHSAA do away with district playoffs and just have regional tournaments.

With all due respect HHSDad I would strongly disagree with you. Being a supporter of a larger school I can see where the District Trophy gets pushed to the back of the trophy case with little appreciation but being a graduate of a small school I would hope you remember just how special it is for a small school to win that District Trophy and at least for 1 day make the claim that we just bested the big boys.. It may not mean alot to the Holmes, CCH's, Boone Cty, Ryles and other bigger schools but go ask the kid at Ludlow, Bellevue, Dayton and the other small schools and I think you get a different answer.

Three different divisions of 6 would have a class winner. Just like a district winner.
