1.Breathitt County 61, Wolfe County 56:

The red-hot Wolfe County Wolves made the trip over to the next county to take on the red-hot Breathitt County Bobcats in a big 55th district showdown. Wolfe County, winners of 8 of their last 10 came in on a 3 game winning streak (won the Powell County tourney)…..Breathitt County, winners of 8 of their last 10 came in winning 1 straight.

The game would be close throughout and would go right down to the wire before the Bobcats eventually pulled it out, 61-56. Bradley Lawson led the Wolves with 24. Braxton Whitemore led Breathitt with 25. Wes Noble added 21.

Wolfe County (8-3) will host Buckhorn (7-5) on Tuesday.

Breathitt County (9-3) will travel to Owsley County (1-10) on Tuesday.

Wolfe County: 15 – 13 – 14 – 14 – 56

Breathitt County: 20 – 12 – 11 – 18 – 61

2.Buckhorn 59, Jackson City 51:

The Wildcats and Coach John Noble made the trip over from Buckhorn to Jackson City to take on the Tigers, in a game that most thought would be a blowout was the exact opposite.

Buckhorn winners of 5 of their last 10 came into the game on a 1 game losing streak which came to Mt. Zion IL in a tournament down in Florida….Jackson City winners of 3 of their last 10 came into the contest on a 3 game losing streak.

The game would be close throughout without either team getting a big lead and would remain that way until Buckhorn came away with a 59-51 win. Connor Hoskins led Buckhorn and all scorers with 25…Zach Hollan led Jackson City with 15.

Buckhorn (7-5) will travel to Wolfe County (8-3) who is coming off a loss to Breathitt County, on Tuesday

Jackson City (4-8) will host Leslie County (4-9) on Tuesday, Wolfe County (8-3) on Friday and travel to Powell County (6-7) on Saturday.

Buckhorn: 17 – 10 – 14 – 18 – 59

Jackson City: 9 – 9 – 19 – 14 – 51

3.Knott County Central 77, Powell County 45:

The Pirates made the long haul to Hindman to try and upset the reigning defending 14th region champion, Knott County Central.

Powell County, winners of 6 of their last 10 came into the contest on a 1 game winning streak…Knott County Central, winners of 8 of their last 10 came into the contest on a 2 game losing streak.

This game would not be close at all as the Patriots jumped all over the Pirates in the first quarter taking a 30-12 led into the second quarter…Patriots wouldn’t look back as they rolled past Powell County 77-45.

Bradley Cornett, Austin Mullins, Matt Brooks all led the Pirates with 9 points each….Camron Justice led the Patriots with 23. Evan Hall added 15.

I agree. I think the MaxPreps has it fairly accurate. No disrespect to your rankings ASB, you do a good job keeping us informed on the 14 region.

By the way, I saw on Twitter where the WYMT Mountain Classic has been postponed.
