Take the GCL for example. Historically, that's been a football game played in basketball shorts. Everything goes. They're consistent in that regard. They adjust to the style of play.

 

Coach Booher told me when he first moved here that the 9th was MUCH more physical in nature than what was allowed in the mountains.

 

But they all work under the same rule book correct? I can understand some, as you say regional differences but....they are not even close to calling the game the same way and like I said, I have no complaints but somebody needs to explain why the need for a rule book, if each area is going to call it their way and not the rule book way!

Rulebook doesn't give pictures. It says "contact." Contact is subjective. Now all travels should be called the same but fouls have always been and will always be subjective.

The Winton Woods Warriors played better than their record Monday against visiting Covington Catholic. But they could not overcome the hottest shooting team in Northern Kentucky, losing 81-66 to the unbeaten Colonels, who continued their winning ways against Greater Cincinnati competition.

It was a come-from-behind win for the Colonels (5-0). They trailed Winton Woods (1-7) by seven points early in the second quarter. It was tied at halftime.

CovCath shot 61.8 percent from the field and 61.5 percent (8-for-13) from 3-point range. The Colonels were 7-for-11 shooting in the third quarter when they built a 58-50 lead with a 21-13 scoring advantage. They were 7-for-9 shooting in the fourth.

Findlay University recruit Nick Ruthsatz led CovCath with 25 points on 8-for-16 shooting. Ben Heppler scored 21 on 7-for-7 from the field and 5-for-5 on 3-pointers for the Colonels, who entered play hitting 50 percent.

Center Mark Schult was 8-for-9 shooting. He scored 17 points and added a team-high six rebounds for CovCath, which out-rebounded the Warriors, 27-16.

As I stated if this game were being played in the 9th or 16th Region we would have had 30/40 fouls called on us. Being consistence is what you hope for, ask for and all the stripes have been that but as far as calling a game (especially) the hand check rule is as different as night and day.

But why should they have to adjust to that extent, when there is a rule book explaining the rules to follow, to make sure the game is being called as consistence as can be from one area to another!

The strike zone is suppose to be called from a certain point to another certain point and it isn't but in baseball at least, if the ball arrives prior to the runner reaching 1st base and if the 1st baseman catches the ball and has his foot on the base, 99 times out of 100 the runner is out. This season more so then in other years the stripes seem to be saying were going to call the game as we see fit and to **** with the rule book. Some are following the mandates but some seem to think the mandate are just request.

Your correct in that statement, as I actually keep a Book on each Blues strike/ball zones as they run completely different but I must say, other than that, the majority of Blue call the game the same way from Region to Region and from State to State in Baseball unlike Basketball.
