Congrats to the Breds on the top spot in both boys and girls polls.

.....

If my quick math is accurate, 6 folks had NewCath #1 (obviously), then one had then #2 and one had them #3. I'm not sure how you could have NewCath anywhere but 2nd if you didn't have them 1st. Likewise, since Holmes only got 45 points from the 6 voters that voted them out of the top spot, some had to have them below 3rd (even if all 6 voters had them 3rd it would be 48, let alone MOST I'm sure that had them 2nd). That is crazy to me. You can argue (I wouldn't, but you could) CovCath ahead of them (again, I would NOT do that), but no way could you even attempt to argue anyone else ahead of Holmes.

Strange...

Looks like two of the coaches didn't bother to vote this week. This poll is flawed on a couple-three levels, one of which is participation appears to be optional. Besides, until NCC, CC and Holmes actually play each other, where the top teams are positioned doesn't mean a whole lot.

Agreed, but I think we can all agree a coach not having those as the Top 3 is ridiculous. :thumb:

St H at 10 surprises me a bit. Need to see more before I can go that far. I do think they CAN be there. Just haven't seen it yet.

Dixie v Brossart v Camels is a tough one as well.

Here's what I think is going on: Look at the Holmes total -- 65 points divided by eight votes. Two coaches had Holmes No. 1, so that's 20 points. Five coaches likely had Holmes No. 2, so that's 45 points. One coach probably left Holmes off the list entirely. Could be a simple "whoops." Could be a protest vote. Or it could be the Holmes coach leaving his own team off the list because he didn't like the way the team played this past week, and he thought a lower ranking might motivate the squad. I'm sure something like this goes on occasionally with the voting.

Voting is not required by the coaches. They are asked to participate via email and are emailed when the poll opens and when it is scheduled to close every week. Poll opens at 7pm on Friday and closes at noon on Monday.

Most likely voting breakdown:

NCC got 6 first-place votes, one vote for 2nd and one vote for third.

Holmes got 2 votes for first, five for second and was left off one ballot.

CovCath got 6 third-place votes, one vote for second and one vote for fourth.
