Best Albums of the Year

Featured Replies

Most music magazines have been releasing their lists of best albums from this year. Rolling Stone's made me gag a little. Paste's was less mainstream, but I found some cool stuff I had missed. I figured that combination of revulsion and curiosity is what makes for a good thread.

What are your best albums of the year? Rank them if you want to.

Ugh. Following new music is so much work. It's best to just cut yourself off at a certain date and say "There's no more room in my brain; everything after this is too new for me to bother with."

I chose December 31 of 1850.

:lol2:

I'm kidding (sort of), but not about how much work it is. There was a time in my life (high school and college) when I would spend hours every week listening to new tracks, reading reviews and really seeking out new stuff. I just can't keep up with it all anymore.

Does anyone else miss having about 14 hours of complete free time every day? College really was great...

Phosphorescent “Muchacho”

Just got hold of that album last week after I saw it on Paste's list.

I would tear up my subscription to Rolling Stone (if I had one) over leaving "Southeastern" off their list.
