Mustangs win their third game of the season with a 72-59 win over the scrappy Georgetown (OH) G-Men in the Bluegrass-Buckeye Charity Classic on Saturday night at Scott High School.

The Mustangs opened up a 22-7 first quarter lead, which extended to 18 at 27-9, before the Mustangs again succumbed to foul trouble and saw key players relegated to the bench. Georgetown took advantage and closed the gap to 37-28 at the half.

Sharpshooter Jake Cropper led the G-Men out of the locker room and promptly nailed three consecutive 3-pointers to cut the Mustangs lead to 42-39, but that was as close as the visitors from Ohio, playing in their season opener would come on this night.

Brossart responded by re-opening the lead to 50-42 after three stanzas and then drew off to post the 72-59 victory.

The Mustangs were led by the double-trouble combination of 6-6 footers, Drew Burns who led all scorers with 22 points, and Alex Trentman who contributed 21 on the night. Spencer Hackworth knocked down a pair of threes enroute to a 10 point performance and Erik Rieger contributed 9.

For his efforts, Drew Burns was named the Player of the Game.

The Mustangs were without the services of seniors Jake Jennings, Austin Shannon, and Ted MacDonald, who were on senior retreat this weekend.

There were merely 51 free-throws shot in this one, 22 by the Mustangs, and 29 by the G-Men.

I just knew he was going to have a great year this year.Glad for him. Congrats on the win and best of luck next week, especially the Holmes game.

Burns has been playing great this year. He has set the tone early and often in each game. He also grabbed 10 boards in the game!

Congrats to Erik Rieger for being named academic player of the game.
