My question is if Monroe beats South Warren Friday are they considered a legitimate threat?

 

What everybody misses about sports is that everybody is a threat. All teams are just a few injuries from mediocre. I could see Monroe winning Friday. Why not they seem to do it about every year. I've got mad respect for the Falcons.

What happen if Bell beats Corbin this Friday?

 

They are second in the district. What else would happen?

They win the opportunity to travel to Louisville and play Central in the second round instead of going to Monticello to play Wayne Co. again, that is if they win their first round game, which will be at home if they do finish second in the district. Same goes for Corbin, it's going to be a tough road in the playoffs for both of them.

My question is if Monroe beats South Warren Friday are they considered a legitimate threat?

 

Judging solely on how I would view it...yes and no.

 

It certainly would open up my eyes and prove that Monroe has a chance to beat any team on any given night. It also would stand to reason that Monroe would now see their primary competition in their region be a 5 loss Tilghman team with a history of doing unexpected things. So in a sense it would give Monroe a very real tangible shot at being a Semi-Finalist.

 

The rub is, South Warren is already surrounded by question marks due to their weak schedule and surprising loss to Daviess County (who turned around and got lit up by Henderson County). Monroe, being what appears to be the best team they have faced, would be more of an indictment on South Warren's status as being a contender than anything. In addition, it is also still hard to ignore the thrashing Monroe suffered at the hands of Wayne County earlier this year and a loss to a Glasgow team that definitely would not be considered a contender if they were in 3A.

I would greatly agree that Monroe took an old fashion thrashing from Wayne...

I do also believe that South Warren is greatly overrated!

IMO Wayne is this years state champs...

But I can't count out Corbin or Central.

West side of bracket including Tilhman is not a clear front runner or even a close second to the east!!!

Ok now that south totally dominated Monroe with the 53 to 8 victory what does it say about them. They had a 70 yard drive for a td and a 61 yard drive. 34 points before half and 27 were scored in the second quarter. IMHO I think they are probably ranked about right somewhere between 3 and 6 but not sure the pretender or over rated tag belongs on them. As I have said when it happend in the Daviess county game it was kinda a fluke south had 360 yards and 3 turnovers on the red zone plus the td called back and the penalties. When you leave points on the ground and turn it over anyone can beat you.
