[h=1]Clark QB Sharrock injured in Cards' loss to Anderson County[/h]

What began as an exciting night ended in disappointment for the George Rogers Clark High School footballicon1.png team Friday.

The Cardinals not only suffered their first loss of the season with a 50-21 setback to Anderson County in their home opener but left the stadium concerned about teammate Luke Sharrock. The juniorquarterbackicon1.png was carried off the field on a stretcher after suffering an apparent concussion following a 10-yard gain with 14 seconds remaining in the first half. Sharrock didn’t return after taking an apparent helmet-to-helmet hit on the scramble.

Stoneking replaced Sharrock at quarterback in the second half. Lloyd Campbell, listed second on the depth chart at QB, was battling an illness and wasn’t able to play.

Hope the young man is OK. Please provide updates on his condition.

Couple of notes from the game last night (Sorry for not posting earlier).

1. - Prayers go out to Luke Sharrock. Concussion and collar bone issues. Lets hope for a speedy recovery.

2. - Anderson County played an extremely aggressive game and executed both offensively and defensively. They will go deep into the playoffs again this year.

3. - GRC played a fantastic game despite injuries, heat, and penalties. They will improve as they go throughout the year, but will need to focus on pass protection and pass defense.

4. While the officials seemed a little touchy on some calls, I thought they did a great overall job. Plenty of official timeouts to see that both teams were getting water in the heat and humidity.

5. Anderson did a great job of ball control and keeping GRC's defense on the field. It started to show deep into the 3rd quarter.

Cardinals have another tough game next week as they travel to Henry Clay. Anderson gets South Oldham at home.
