Ok few quick facts about South Warren. When the School opened in 2010 it opened with 798 students in 9th to 12th graded with 9th being the largest near 250 students. Warren County gave some students options of staying at there current school (Greenwood or Central). Each year the class that graduated has been smaller and the incoming freshman has been around 250 students. This is the first year that all students in 12th grade has attended the all 4 years at South Warren. The Senior class has 248 students in it. I know this since I know where my child is ranked and out of how many. When School opened this Aug there was 1,006 enrolled. However, they expect the number to be about 1,060 once students that were late in registering etc. are in and when the official numbers are taken in I believe Oct. According to administrators they believe that South will be bumped up to 5A at the next realignment which is after next year. If they are lucky to be placed in 4A they would be one of the larger schools. In addition as we all know the classification is based on Male Students. I have seen many post of South Warren having 1800 students before. The only possible way to get to that number and I still think it would be a far reach is to include the Middle School numbers in that math. There is between 550 and 600 7th and 8th graders at the middle school. If you include that amount then it would be around 1,800 there at the building but it is two separate schools Middle and High under one roof.

 

Ok now with the background there is no doubt that South got a gift when it was classed and allowed to remain in 3A for the next two years.

 

That was what I was getting ready to post Re:1800 students. The total within the one building is the only possible way that number could be generated. Even when Greenwood was at their highest point they were just north of 1700 students. I doubt that Warren County will ever allow a school to get to 1800 without there being plans to build (yet another) school.

 

If South Warren is anything but 5A in 2015 I would consider it a minor miracle.
