Conner 2013/2014

Featured Replies

Basketball season for 2013/2014 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Conner? Remember, please be constructive.

Cougars need Watts to get ready for varsity ball. A lot of the attributes are there. Just needs to slow down a bit and play under control. I expect him to have a huge year.

They'll miss Barker's D and rebounding.

Sam H will have to carry the load.

I'll be curious to see where Garnett fits in.

Conner returns a solid JV group that lost in the region championship to Holmes this past season.

Had Barker not decided to enroll early at UK for football, this is probably my #5 team in the region this upcoming season.

I like the senior class of Hemmerich, Ruholt, Way, and Lamblez, but IMO the key to success for Conner this season is how much the underclassmen step up, particularly at the PG position. Conner had one of the better front courts in the area last year but couldn't handle pressure from teams who liked to play uptempo.

Watts could be a nice contributor, but needs to add some strength and play more aggressive. I'm sure Tony and the Conner coaching staff will work with him throughout the summer to get him stronger.

Not familiar with the Garnett kid, Clyde.......can you tell me more about him?

Started JV as a frosh last year. Really nice athlete. Strong kid. Nice offensive game. Probably a 2. Could be a 3 with growth.

I like this team a lot. hemmerich is lights out and they will have depth and almost every position. I think Hicks will do a fine job with this group. Here's a question though, is this Hick's farewell tour with the Cougars?

Depth at every position? That's a bit much IMO.

Why would it be Jim's last year? And don't we hear this every year?

Thanks. I'll be sure to look for him when I make my summer rounds to see the teams during June.

I really like Lamblez and Hemmerich. Not sold on Watts. Very athletic, but to inconsistent and out of control. I think with Barker gone, Conner will struggle a bit with having no post presence and a lack of leadership at the 1. Hemmerich, Lamblez, and Way will only take them so far. I don't see a lot of depth on this team.

As for Hicks, is it time for a change of scenery in Hebron? I mean with all the other changes in NKy... However, Conner hasn't even come close to sniffing the region in quite a few years and I've heard nothing of Hicks' job being vacated. There has been a bit of talent at Conner within the last few years, but no hardware. Bowman could be a great hire someday...

Interested to see this Garnett kid. I have heard the name, but haven't seen the production. Hopefully he can help out. I think Boone Co. Basketball is always more interesting when Conner is good and competitive. Almost beat Cooper in districts last year....
