NKY all underrated team

Featured Replies

As the season winds down lets here about some kids that you think have down well but are not mentioned alot on here.

Anna Clements for Holy Cross, not sure she isn't one of the better pitchers but due to the lack of defense for HC no one ever knows. I can't remember to many players just having great days against her and I am not sure she game up a HR all season. She isn't flashy and doesn't throw real hard but she gets the job down. She pitched about a total of 6 games against the big 4 and I am not sure she gave up more than 5 to 10 earned runs. (that's a just a guess)

Courtney Garrett for Dixie, if you did a top 10 for pitchers she may not get a vote but yet she is the most important part of the Dixie team that was inches from going to the finals.

Conner's leadoff hitter, sorry don't know name so maybe she is talk about on here but Conner stuggles a lot on offensive with her not sure how they would do with out her. When she gets on she make it a lot harder to find Himes when she is up.

That's a few I more add more later.

If your a reader and not a poster and you feel like your child gets over looked a little now is the time to get her name out. Please share any info you can bc there is only a couple people that post a lot on here and we can't know everyone.

Conner leadoff hitter may be Jenna Hicks.

Maybe I should get a 1st grader to proff read my posts before hitting reply.

I don't like the word over looked either I would like to say if you feel like a kid just isn't talked about on here or would like to just get her name out now is the time.

I started this thread with 2 kids in mind and of course I forgot one of them.

Taylor Burkhart (sp) Little Lawngirl from NCC, Taylor probably will never get on a first team and really has no desire to play in college or anything like that but she is what HS sports is all about. Over the last couple of years she has played about every position for NCC and seldom makes an error. She would rather sit in a car non stop for an hour and listen to her dad talk over pitching but she steps right in and gives it her all when asked.

I would love to hear parents talk about their child. I am not from NKY so I am still learning where all the schools are and who some of the top players are. Would love to learn about some players to watch next year. Heck post what travel team they play for if any so can watch out for them this summer.

Some underrated players I have seen this year would include Grosser for Highlands-solid CF. Mickie Terry-SS-ND-does alot of things well on the ballfield. Laura Finke-C-ND-may be at the top of my list. Solid on defense, and on offense is asked to lead off, steal bases, and bunt. Could definitely play at the next level. Rice (?)-SS for Holmes. She can fly with the best of them, and just seems like she is having fun out there.

Good list I agree with all,

Finke is the most underrated player in my book but she is talked about on here a little and did my second team in the coaches awards. I love her game she seems to be a complete player. NDA doesn't rip the cover off the ball and I am not sue where there offense would be with out her.

Holmes SS is good also, would have loved to have her on our team this year. A lot of rumors flying around that she may not return to Holmes either.

Haven't the Highlands parents taught you yet that "The Birds" are all that matter there are no other schools in NKY!!

fixed it for ya.

If it was up to her she would NEVER step foot in the circle, hates it, hates it, hates it. But yes, when Coach Barnes asks her to she does give it her best. For a kid that had ZERO pitching knowledge till last year she has done a very nice job when called on.

One girl that many have not and will not see that I think could start for just about any team in NKY is Dayton Soph. Felicia Watts. Has very nice "pop" in her bat, is probably as fast as any girl in the 9th, and can play more than one position (C, 3rd, OF).

I would have to say, hands down, not even debateable, Haylee Smith is the most underrated, after all, she was rated second team by the coaches. I know of know player who was ranked THAT MUCH below where she should be. (OK I know that wasn't the point of the post, but really, second team?)

Pitcher: The Hoeh girl from Newport would be a great pitcher on a team that would focus on D behind her! Although its hard to be underratted with 500 strikeouts, unfortunately I dont know if she will ever get her due at newport! Quality Young Lady! I have heard she is also a state ranked Bowler!

I agree 1000%, and 2 more years to go. You could also add SR. Miranda Ladanyi (pitcher) Ludlow and SR. Maddie Blevins (pitcher) Bellevue. All 3 of these young ladies are above average pitchers IMO and with ANY help behind them would have much better numbers.

Payton Leighty HHS RF She held down RF for us this season and pitched when asked and played CF as well.

Gabby Stewart St. Henry. From what I've seen this year she is one of the top catchers in the area. Defensively as solid as there is. Very good arm. Hits the ball hard. Her and Noelle gameplanned their pitch calls before the game/innings and rarely did they disagree on the sequence once the game was going. As a freshman and first time starter behind the dish, I find that pretty remarkable. Looking forward to being apart of her next 3 years.

Solid player for sure.
