April 27, 201313 yr The difference between Bree's and Dalton in your timeframe of their careers. I knew Bree's would be good and you didn't Nuff said lol Man I believe you need to get a new career and become a GM of a team or something. It seems like you knew a lot of things, that your able to say after the fact. However more power to you since you said that. Even though majority of people had a very different opinion than you on that, people who evaluate for a living. He basically sat his rookie year, then in years 2 and he finally got to start and was not impressive at all and the numbers who show it. So for a person so down on Dalton who didn't have a season before he played, had no mini camps either before his first year. Yet still has better numbers than Brees did, you must be a great evaluator then and may need to start applying for the GM jobs. I am sure the Chargers wished you were their GM back then because they obviously didn't think Brees was going to be good, because after his third year with the team and still not showing much and having many flaws they decided to use a top 5 pick to get a new QB so they could get rid of Brees. If they only knew like you knew that he would end up fixing all those flaws and end up being a future hall of famer they could have used that top 5 pick on someone else and kept him and who knows maybe they would have won a Super Bowl then. So next time a GM spot opens they need to look at you for that spot, since you were apparently the only one apparently who thought he would still be good after this first three years haha. By the way I have even posted articles and links for you showing how NFL people have even compared Dalton to Brees early in his career, and its not just me making that comparison. But hey you have your opinion so we really might want to agree to disagree or else this will just keep going and going and going. So I think its a valid comparison and you don't. So now nuff said.

Let me make it simple for you. Dalton is no Drew Brees Dalton had a better rookie season than Peyton Manning so are you about to say Dalton is better?
April 28, 201313 yr Let me make it simple for you. Dalton is no Drew Brees Dalton had a better rookie season than Peyton Manning so are you about to say Dalton is better? And no one thought Brees would be what he is after 3 years in the NFL, well everyone besides you apparently. Thats never been what the comparison is for, and I never said Dalton will end up being as good as Brees by the end of his career but apparently you will never get that. Even though even NFL people have also made that comparison and I have even shown you the links of that saying that. But hey if you want to keep with that its not a good comparison because you say so then so be it. We just agree to disagree on it. Nuff said.
April 29, 201313 yr Author Again, if you aren't comparing Dalton to Brees as far as being similar QB's then why mention Brees in the first place? If you only want to compare the first couple years then why don't you say Dalton is better than Peyton? Dalton had a better first year. You could compare Dalton to just about every single NFL QB but you choose Brees over and over again so that tells me you think they are similar QB's for some reason.
April 29, 201313 yr Again, if you aren't comparing Dalton to Brees as far as being similar QB's then why mention Brees in the first place? You could compare Dalton to just about every single NFL QB but you choose Brees over and over again so that tells me you think they are similar QB's for some reason. Once again I am not the only one who had made this comparison and I have shown you this for a fact about others saying this too. However maybe you chose to ignore those links, this way you can act like its just some crazy thing I am doing. Also the best way to make a comparison, is to compare someone who has a similar skill set. Brees is very similar to Dalton in every way, especially at the start of their careers. They both fell to the 2nd round because of size and arm strength. Peyton and Dalton are not similar in their skill set. Brees in his first few seasons had many flaws, and one of them being that his arm was not strong enough they said and make bad decisions. Sound familiar? The fact is Dalton who has a similar skill set actually has better numbers than Brees did, a guy who people were ready to give up on. Now people around here act like they already know what Dalton brings to the table and is not the guy who can take them further, just after two years in the league. Thus the reason why I brought up Brees in the first place because of all the similarities and how people thought the same thing about him, and now he will be a hall of famer. So if he can overcome all the flaws that he had by his third year as a starter, than its possible for Dalton to improve and at least become a top 10 QB in the NFL which would be good enough for them to make a run. Yeah its crazy to say he will be a hall of famer too, that is why I never said that. However for someone reason you seen the name Brees and flipped out and ignored the obvious and reason for the comparison. When you compare you do it to the same time frame, and to players who similar size and skill set which is Brees. Which obviously I was not the only one to think this, because I have even included others who feel the same way. But hey once again since you don't like it, that means its not a good comparison. My bad man. Moving on.

My bad man. Moving on. Actually when you say you're not the only one who made that comparison, you are talking about apples and oranges. When Dalton was drafted he was (wrongly) compared to Drew Brees not because of how good or bad he was, but more to his style of play. IT was more of a comparison to arm strength etc. But Dalton has always struggled with downfield passing accuracy, Brees has always been able to throw downfield. That is where the comparisons end....with their cerebral style. I don't need to look at your links, if you want links I can give you some comparing Dalton to McCoy, does that mean a lot of people see him as McCoy? Put it this way, I'm not the one who continues to throw out comparisons, you are. Yet you say you aren't comparing him to Brees' career yet you are even when you say the first 2 years so I ask you again, why aren't you comparing him to Peyton? The only reason you compare him to Brees is 1. it seems you can't evaluate on your own so you have to go off of what others say and 2. Because someone said coming out of college Dalton was like Brees in his play you are stuck in that comparison even though it's apples and oranges. Why can't Dalton just be Dalton, what is with everyone having to be compared to someone else? I don't get it. Who was Brett Favre like? Why can't he just be Brett Favre and why can't Dalton just be Dalton? People who always have to compare are those who it seems can't think for themselves. You said I freaked out when I saw the name Brees, no I didn't. I just wondered why you picked him out of the blue and ignored the other 30 starting QB's in the league? As I showed already, Dalton had a better year than Manning his rookie year, why didn't you compare those 2 QB's? Dalton and Brees didn't have anywhere close to the same rookie (or 2nd year) numbers, so why did you pick Brees out of the entire list of Starting QB's? I know exactly why you did and it's simple. You wanted to pick someone who had a bad start to their career who you heard when Dalton was coming out of college who his style was compared to and you use it as to try and convince the rest of us that Dalton will be as good or better than Brees becasue he had a better first 2 years than Brees. I say who cares, 2 totally different QB's in 2 totally different offensive schemes. You don't get it do you? Just because someone says the two have similar styles doesn't mean the two are equal. Brady Quinn's style is similar to Tom Brady's style does that mean they are similar in ability? nope...same as Dalton and Brees. Bengals aren't like the Ravens and Dalton is not like Brees period. So quit the silly comparisons.

So quit the silly comparisons. Apparently you are the one who doesn't get it and there you go with what your famous for and that is your made up stuff. You say I wanted to show that Dalton will be as good or better than Brees? Haha how many times have I even said that Dalton most like will not end up being as good as Brees, I have made the quite clear. But as usual with you, and I must give you credit because you are consistent with it. You like to make up things and act like something was said when hey it really wasn't, but if that is what you want to believe in your head more power to you man. Also if you want to ignore the links that I posted that people were sayinb before Dalton was drafted, and even just this past off season go ahead. I know I sure wouldn't want to look at links that go against every argument I have made. You asked why I chose Brees and I made it quite clear why I did in the last post. If you are going to take a comparison you need to take a comparison of someone of similar skills and size, and even arm strength in this case. That gives it more validity in the comparison, then just saying well why don't you compare Manning and Dalton who really has nothing that is similar. Validity is very important in a comparison if you didn't realize that. Now for the 20 millionth time since you can't seem to understand this simple concept. From the very beginning when this all first started I never said he would end up being as good as Brees. This comparison was brought up and valid for the discussion going on at the time you decided to jump in because people were acting like they already know how Dalton is and how he can't get much better blah, blah, blah. So Brees is the perfect example of how after just two seasons is to early to make that judgement. Well unless its you obviously who apparently was the only one who thought Brees was still going to be good after two bad seasons haha. Even though once again I showed links that apparently you ignored those to since it goes against what you said on how people thought of Brees back then which was not good. But hey you have an opinion, so lets ignore things that go against it. Its all good man though, just keep on keeping on. Good day sir.

Don't worry, I understand perfectly how you operate on these subjects. You want to compare anything and everything Bengals related to the very best in the league, that is why you compare Dalton to Brees and why you compare the Bengals to the Ravens. Now answer me this since you say you aren't comparing Dalton to Brees...did you or did you not compare the first 2 years Dalton had to the first 2 Brees had? Any answer other than no would dictate you were comparing the 2. I will save you time, go ahead and start your comparisons with Bernard to Maurice Jones Drew and Ray Rice. It's only a mtter of time until you do. Oh, and as you say the Manning and Dalton comparisson doesn't work because they are nothing alike, actually they have more in common with this compparison than Dalton and Brees. As you have already stated Brees hardly played his rookie year while Dalton and Peyton Manning started from week 1 in their rookie year, so yes it's a better comparison because they both have more in common when it comes to playing in the NFL...just thought I'd help you out there.
April 29, 201313 yr I appreciate all of the statistics and "hard evidence" that future coach uses in his comparisons. Not saying I agree with everything he says but at least we have insight into his thinking and it has substance...Hellbird just trying to shoot down all comparisons is doing nothing for the sake of arguments, supply us with some data to bring us to your side. Seems to me futurecoach is wasting his time if hellbird isnt willing to put in the time to back up his arguments. The back and forth is fun to watch but seems like just a one sided argument versus someone's opinion alone...

Fact Peyton Manning started game 1 his rookie year just like Dalton did. Yet Futurecoach says Dalton and Brees are the most comparable, you want to know why? Because Futurecoach heard some draft guy say when Dalton was being drafted that he reminded this draft guy of Brees, and ever since then Futurecoach thinks they are alike. So when Futurecoach compares Dalton's riookie and 2nd year to a future Hall of Famer simply because of their size etc. when the future hall of famer didn't start the same as Dalton did and actually didn't become the Chargers starter until the 2nd year in the league he thinks it's a fair comparison. what other facts would you like? My enitre point is, there is no reason to compare Dalton to anyone, let Dalton be Dalton. Edited April 29, 201313 yr by Hellbird

My enitre point is, there is no reason to compare Dalton to anyone, let Dalton be Dalton. Hmmm I believe it was you that had to remind you of the fact that Brees didn't start his rookie year like you had said. That was one of the original made up things that I had to point out. So nice try on that one, I can even provide a link that that thread if you would like? You also know you prove my point even more right? My whole point the whole time was how its way to early for people to give up on Dalton and say this guy won't improve much they need a new QB to make a run. Well AS I POINTED out before Brees barely played his rookie year. So he had a whole year to get prepared to play. But guess what once he did become the full time starter he still struggled and did not get it. Then the next year as the starter which was year 3 in the NFL he struggled to the point where the Chargers didn't think he could be a franchise QB and drafted someone that they believe could be. That was the whole point of the comparison, but you for some reason wanted to take it as and still take it as wow he is saying he will be as good as Brees if not better. You really just don't get it. I know Dalton is Dalton and if I said he was going to end up having a career like Brees I would have said that but guess what I never did. As I pointed out you still have absolutely ZERO idea of why the comparison was brought up and have convinced yourself that it was brought up to show that Dalton will end up being as good as Brees and you couldn't be more wrong. It was just brought up to show a guy who was very much like Dalton was able to completely turn his career around. So its silly for people to already have their mind made up on Dalton after 2 years, it took Brees until his 4th to get it. But as always with you nice try, better luck next time.

Actually it was you in your first few post about the comparison that you compared Daalton to Brees' first 2 years. I actually thopught you knew what you were talking about when making the comparison to think maybe Brees started his rookie year, or wwhy would you make such a silly comparison in the first place? I've since learned I sshouldn't exactely trust what you say. I thought any sensible person when comparinng Dalton's rookie season would compare it to another rookie who also started that first year. At least that is what I would of done. I wouldn't compare a rookie with a 3 year veteran at the time. That type of comparison is apples and oranges, that is why i brought up Peyton if you wanted to compare Dalton to someone who was in the same shoes when they started in the league. Shoot, I would of even took a Big Ben comparison which would of been closer to Dalton. Even in your latest post you are comparing Dalton and his 1st and 2nd year to Brees' 4th year. All I ask is stop comparing, why can't you just let a player;s own abilities tell the story.

All I ask is stop comparing, why can't you just let a player;s own abilities tell the story. Once again you just simply don't get it. You see the word Brees and your like oh my God he is trying to say he will be as good as Brees and never once have I said that. You really just don't get it, you just decided to jump right into the middle of the Brees thing awhile back without having any idea. Which I have tried tell you many times, but yet you still don't get it. The whole reason for the comparison was not to say Dalton will end up being a hall of famer like Brees and I have never said that. The whole comparison was to show how it is wrong for people to act like they already know how his career will be, and saying he is not the QB who can lead them in the playoffs. People are basing it off of two seasons of starting and talking about his size and arm strength. People even talked about how his fall to the 2nd round shows he is not a QB that could get much better or lead them to the playoffs. So which QB fits all those same things too? Hmmm that is right Drew Brees!!! So the comparison is there to show how it is way to early to made the judgement on Dalton, and Brees is the perfect example why. As I mentioned and told you he didn't start his rookie year. So he had a year to prepare and still didn't do well his first two years, even worst than Dalton did in his first two years starting. So if he can become a hall of famer when everyone was ready to give up on him (besides you apparently) then its way to early to say the same about Dalton. That was what the whole comparison was for. Its not saying Dalton will end up being like Brees or anything like that, so please stop saying made up things again. It was just to show how its way to early to judge, and this third year will really paint a picture on how Dalton's career will go. I have said this many of times, and its hard for me to believe that you still can't understand that. I know its hard to admit that you were wrong to jump into a debate that you didn't know what it involved to start with. So now you don't want to give up on your made up stance that I keep acting like Dalton will end up being as good as Brees. However I never have said he will be a hall of a famer like Brees I am letting Dalton be Dalton. Just used it to show that its way to early for people to made judgements on him. That is what the comparison was for to start with before you decided to chime in way back a few months ago thinking I was saying he will be as good.
May 5, 201313 yr Author Then why keep using Brees has been my point all along. You say you use Brees to show that a Hall of Famer wasn't as good as Dalton in his first 2 years, so why not use Peyton Manning or Brett Favre etc. as your example? The reason is someone said Dalton is similar to Brees coming out of college so it's stuck in your head they are similar, they aren't. My point has been you are stuck on Brees comparison for no reason other than the fact that someone else said it and you bought into the hype.
