Ram
What does Russellville need to do to improve in 2013? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.
Toothpick
Russellville should be scary good, good enough to challenge Mayfield and Beechwood if their youngsters mature. They return alot from the team that played Mayfield pretty tough last year

Ram
They have a lot of speed also. This year is the one they have been pointing to for a while With their high expectations, and Mayfield losing Jackson, will Russellville be able to take the district title? The Scribe
Russellville only lost four starters to graduation (six seniors total) but in the end, Mayfield is still Mayfield.
Ram
Russellville only lost four starters to graduation (six seniors total) but in the end, Mayfield is still Mayfield. Mayfield beat Russellville last year 27-7 with Jackson. Russellville has virtually everyone back and Mayfield lost Jackson. I have to think that if Russellville don't beat Mayfield this year they never will.
The Scribe
There are a lot of schools in western Kentucky who feel that way from time to time. It has to be a down year for Mayfield or monsoon conditions for most schools to have a shot. I'm not saying Russellville can't beat Mayfield, but Mayfield has more depth. Plus, their district game isn't until late in the year when Mayfield has a chance to have everyone in their correct slots. If the teams played in August, Russellville would have a better chance. Russellville is not very good in weeks 1-4...then they get better, and better, and better. They are a lot like Mayfield in that they play up constantly and it takes them a few weeks to figure out who needs to be where but when they do, they're as tough an out as it gets. To me, the biggest question of who will win the RVK/Mayfield game is: Where is it at?

Also like Mayfield, RVK has a rich winning tradition and a current head coach who is one of the best and one that knows Mayfield as well as Mayfield knows themselves having spent time as an assistant coach at Mayfield. While I still feel the Cards are a likely favorite, this is a team that is dangerous and one that I would expect to see Mayfield have to play twice to advance in the playoffs.
