Just seen on twitter that Breathitt County is not gonna renew Coach Fugate's contract.

I'm dumbfounded by this, I don't even know what to say.

 

 

I know they were rumors about Mike Holcomb taking Coach Fugate with him to Letcher County Central to be the boys basketball coach but Letcher County Central still has a basketball coach.

I saw the tweet from Bluegrass Basketball and am surprised that his contract wasn't renewed. Thought originally he had found a different gig which was the reason for the opening.

Probably someone within the school system...Maybe Doug Noble again? I couldn't imagine anyone would wanna go to that place with everything that's going on! If he's willing to leave Powell County, Brian Hall? Danny Wright who just stepped down from Lee County, would he be interested? Lot more talent to work with up at Breathitt County

They do have some potential talent coming up from what I have heard, but like you said it would be a rough place with everything that is going on now. The big question will be is will they post the position.

I think they stay in the school system, they are staying in the school system for football, why not for basketball? Unless they got some basketball people up there that works in the school system, I honestly believe Doug Noble gets it unless he doesn't want it. Breathitt does have some very good talent coming up in both football and basketball but they've always had good talent

Wow. To me that seems like a travesty to the kids, because that is why the programs were in place.

Not surprising. The intern superintendent is from Rockcastle and it is well know he ran Tom Larkey out there as football coach as he must have Mike Holcomb, now the basketball coach. People have told me he doesn't like coaches who are more liked than him. Plus they say he dislikes sports a lot.

So the man dislikes sports, which is something used as an extra curricular for kids that helps keep many out of trouble. Does he expect them to take up performing arts or join the academic teams?
