Final from Brooksville, where Randy froze his hind parts off. That Walking Taco didn't warm me up one bit, but it was quite tasty.

 

Lady Bears break a 4-4 tie with a 3-run bottom half of the 5th (I think it was the 5th). Center fielder Jordan Wills was really good with the glove and at the plate. Wills had a huge triple in the 3rd or 4th & also threw a New Cath player out trying to score on a fly ball to center. Karly Jefferson & Emma Conley also had some big RBI hits. Conley also pitched a pretty good game.

 

First time seeing NCC. Pretty good squad IMO. Hit the ball pretty well, fielded it pretty well also (except for the 5th, where they had a costly error). Not sure who the 3rd baseman is, but the young lady made a couple of nice plays in the field.

 

Also really nice to meet Lawnboy tonight. Got the chance to talk for ten minutes or so & enjoyed the conversation. :thumb:

Both NewCath's Taylor Burkart and Bracken Co.'s Emma Conley were on cruise control up until the 4th & 5th innings when both teams scored all their runs.

 

NewCath 4th

Casey Kolhs leads the inning off reaching on an error on the 1st baseman, Loren Zimmerman rips one off Conley's glove and it's 1st and 2nd none out. Then Kristen Schreiber "mashes" a double to center that brings Kohls home and Zimmerman to 3rd. Taylor Burkart flies out to centerfielder Jordan Wills and she fires a direct hit to the catcher to get Zimmerman tagging from 3rd. The next batter Morgan Martini hits a solid single to center to plate Schreiber and the Breds have a short lived 2-0 advantage.

 

Bracken Co. 4th

MacKenzie Jefferson leads the inning off with a sinking liner to center that is tailing away from Alexa Kehoe, who has already made 2 excellent catches in center, and this one pops right out of her glove. The next batter Anna Conley hits one to Zimmerman at 3rd and her only play is to 1st for the out and Jefferson moves over to 2nd. The next batter Madison Ishmael hits one to Ware at short, she looks Jefferson back to 2nd but her throw to 1st is not in time. The Breds should be out of the inning and up 2-0, but NO. Karly Jefferson hits a single to score MacKenzie Jefferson, Burkart K's Conley then Jordan Wills smacks a double to the fence in center, scoring Ishmael & Jefferson, and she takes 3rd on the throw to the plate. The next batter Brooke Woods draws a walk and Cassidy Jefferson hits one to Zimmerman at 3rd, but her throw is high and allows Wills to score. Bracken Co. takes a 4-2 lead.

 

NewCath 5th

Amanda Schabel gets a one out single to center, Michaela Ware then follows with bloop single to right, and Kohls then loads them up with a walk. Loren Zimmerman scores Schabel with a single to center. Conley gets Schreiber to K, but not before Ware scores on a wild pitch. The inning ends with Burkart flying out to center but the Breds tie things up at 4, however that is only temporary.

 

Bracken Co. 5th

Taylor Burkart does herself no favors by starting the inning off with a walk and then a hit batsman. The next batter, Allison Conley, bunts down the 3rd base line and Zimmerman fires to 1st for the out (she was out by a step), but the umpire calls safe. So now the sacks are full and Madison Ishmael hits one back to Burkart who throws home for the force out. The next batter Karly Jefferson pops out to 1st for the 2nd out. Emma Conley plates one with a single to left and then an error by Ware at short gets the next two runs across. The Polar Bears take a 7-4 lead and that is all the scoring.

I agree with this 100% That goes more than just your Breds though I think all the schools need to work on getting as close as possible to the max # of games. If you look at the last several years schools like Ryle, Connor, Walton, Boone they all get around 30 plus games in. A little easier bc they all have their own home fields but I believe it is a small advantage to play 5 to more games than other schools.

 

Most schools have at least 5 make up games already, I would love to some schools get together on some weekends and try to play 2 or 3 games on an off Sat.

Yes!! And based on next weeks weather forecast, Gallatin is in danger of going into the All A with only 3 games under its belt so far this season.

I think this would be an awesome idea, I'm all for it. With the lack of practicing outside before the season started, because of the terrible weather, the only way these girls will be better prepared is by playing as many games as possible. They need all the real game situations as possible to be ready for the post-season.
