Beechwood 4 Conner 2

The BW freshmen will be fine. Parents get excited when their young players have success. They are quality players and they have a quality coach. Don't judge them if you have only seen them play once. I saw them play the Florence Freedom 16u in the fallball championship. The freedom pitched a 15u pitcher against midland's 15u. Midland had also brought along Zach Shannon the #2 ranked 2014 player in the state of Ohio, the only 15 yr old to start for the 18u Midland Redskins. The Freedom ran away with the game. The Freedom had qualified 8th over all in the 16u national championships after pool play of the 100 teams entered. A quality team used to quality pitching. I didn't count out the BW players then and no one should now. With a little experience they will be successful on whatever level they play on. They have the talent, a little refinement and they will be a positive asset for BW's State run.

Was at that game. Midland was minus two of their best, and Combs did not play due to minor football injury. Btw͵ they were still the 14s, not the 15s. Freedom scored 6 off of Shannon early. Kid throws 93, but is not a pitcher. Walked several. No idea the the coach brought him, much less started him, other than they wouldnt have had a team to field.

As for these kids, its still early. Not yet ready to declare them all region kids, but to suggest they were not going to be prepared to play the brand of HS ball they are seeing is absurd.

Nobody know this??

Cameron Ross started for Conner and pitched 5 innings. Gave up 2 runs in the 1st then settled in nicely. Dustin Hermann came on in relief and was pitching when Combs hit his HR.

Who threw for each team?

Schumann for BW. And Ross started for Conner. I know someone just posted Hermann gave up the HR but he didn't Ross did. 0-2 fastball that was supposed to be off the plate and ended up down the middle.

Freshmen like these two arent freshmen in experience. Has been beat to death, but the comp they have played in summer is simply the best in the country. Thats what some of us tried to explain. They have been prepared for this, and thus far are not only contributors but are leading the way hitting the baseball. Tigers only had five hits it appears. Combs two, Suchanek two and Stringer one.

I like the BW team, a lot of good hitters on that team. But it's remarks that are made such as they have played the best competition in the country that makes me laugh. They are great players, but to make statements like that when you have nl clue what competition the other teams in summer play is a joke. If they played great competition then that is great, but to make blanket statements just because they play for midland is a joke, and then when someone talks about hgow florence destroyed the great midland team and all you can do is come back with excuses makes it even funnier.

Midland is a good team, but i've seen many teams in this area beat them many many times.

Just be happy the kids are very talented, but don't claim they are world beaters when a local team who apparently according to you hasn't played close to the compettition your kids have faced and beats them handedly.

Just be happy and encourage the kids, don't go around enhancing the truth when you don't need to.

Dude, you really need to have that Midland issue resolved. Again, for the 100th time, I was not in any way putting down the competition that your kid, or any other, has played nor was I comparing. It was merely a context in which I was mentioning that as FRESHMEN, these kids have been groomed to play at the varsity level now, more so that most FRESHMEN in this area. Not comparing them to juniors or seniors, simply making an argument to those that refuse to accept that maybe there are some FRESHMEN that have played as good of competition as 14 years olds as they are going to see in NKY varsity baseball. If you don't think the East Cobb Astros, Dbats, Georgia Roadrunners etc current 15u teams couldn't step on a varsity field right now around here and compete, I would contend you are 100% incorrect. Are there kids in this area as good or better, ABSOLUTELY. Are there teams that can beat Midland in a game in this area? ABSOLUTELY. You lose all reading comprehension when anyone mentions Midland and read way too much into it. As for my "excuses", it's freaking fall ball, who in the heck cares? How is my mentioning it anymore an excuse that you casually mentioning that Cooper was w/o three players, two starters, when they played Beechwood? Seems exactly the same to me. Really man, ungrind that axe.

You are totally off base with your comments about this midland team. The now 15u midland tomahawks are rated top 30 in the country and have only lost to the flames in the entire Cincinnati area. They haven't even played many teams around here because they play out of town teams for the most part.

You may have experience beating other "recreational" midland teams but I can guarantee you have not played the Tomahawks. If you have please specify your team name and elaborate.

How does a Beechwood vs Conner thread turn into an argument over how good a 15 years old Midland team is??

I never once said they weren't ready for varsity. My comment was directed toward you saying they faced better competition by far than anyone else around. That was my comment.

As far as freshman playing varsity. That is awesome but nothing new. There are teams all over this area that are full of players who played varsity as freshman.

You make it sound as if its unheard of. It's not. There is a team I'm very familiar with that has at least 7 players that played varsity as freshman.

As I said I really like the BW freshmen and will enjoy watching them play the next 4 years. Should be a blast. As far as the midland thing goes, remember you are the one who keeps bringing that up.
