March 29, 201313 yr I know that come the postseason we're supposed be all about conference pride or some dumb garbage like that but... can Syracuse and Marquette both lose? Is that possible? Marquette looked outstanding and really made me look dumb for asking people over the last three weeks "How on God's green Earth did Marquette win a share of the Big East title?" Well, that's how. Didn't hurt Marquette that, as a team that like to get inside and get its points around the rim, Miami was without one of its big guys down low.

Maybe didn't hurt, but do you really think Reggie Johnson makes that much difference in that game? It was total domination.
March 29, 201313 yr ^ It could have. Marquette isn't a great shooting team and they got nearly all their points right up by the rim. Williams and Marquette played EXACTLY the game they wanted last night and Miami did nothing to bring them out of it. I can't say for sure it made a huge deal... but it didn't hurt.

Ehhhh see I would disagree with that. Marquette shot the ball VERY well from the perimter last night. Definitely better than usual. It seemed like anyways. They hit a lot of jumpers. Had a lot of mojo going. Now, I will say that Gardner and Otule were backing people under the rim at will, but still. They hit a lot of shots.

They shot well from the perimeter, sure, but they only attempted six threes. They made three of them to shoot 50 percent, but they definitely weren't shooting all over the floor. Marquette grabbed 40 of its 71 points in the paint. That's where they wanted to play and they got it. They got 14 more points at the free throw line, which only leaves 17 points to account for from everywhere else on the floor. They'll need to keep up this good shooting to get much against the Syracuse zone on Saturday. I'd love to watch a replay of their game in February to see how Marquette won that one.

I agree to an extent. In the half court they had pretty good success. But a lot of those paint points likely came in the last ten minute also when Miami was totally selling out on the press and Marquette got breakaways.
