Its amazing how so many people can watch the same play and have very different views on what happened.

This is my 6th year watching HS softball and I can't remember a game where there wasn't at least one blown call or at least where someone thought there was a blown call. Bases are 60 feet there is going to be a lot of close calls...sucks when they get it wrong but sounds like in this case it had little impact on the final.

I was there and it was a very bad call. She dove, made the play, dropped the ball while laying on the ground by the bag. Picked it up with her hand and tagged the bag with the ball in hand a full step before the girl got there. She never lost control after she grabbed it with her hand. Since it was a force out all she had to do is tag the bag and she DID do that. Inning should have been over. The base ump missed 3 call. The girl going to 3rd was out as well on the overthrow that the shortstop caught and tagged the runner on the arm. She tagged her hard enough on the arm that you could see her arm get knocked back. He had a bad day. The SHDH pitched did a nice job keeping BBHS hitter off balance and as well as she pitched BBHS would have had a hard time scoring. Did have 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs but a ground out to second ended the inning.

WOW. I was standing about 15 feet away from that 3rd base play and she never got the tag within 5 feet of the girl. But I guess different strokes. Do you keep the Brossart book as well? What did they end up with 15 hits? Relax, Im just kidding.

I agree on the overthrow play at 3rd. The ball was thrown over the third basemens head and the shortstop was backing up the play and caught the ball but her tag attempt was nowhere close to the baserunner. Logic would tell you that because you would have had 2 fielders standing on the bag for the throw, when in fact the ball was pretty far over the tall 3bs head and the SS caught it behind her.

In all truthfulness, the play at second was bang, bang and I could see how having rose colored classes (or in this case green colored) could make one think the call should have gone the other way. Third base was not even close.

Wasn't there. Can't comment on the call as to its veracity.

However, a one-run game is much different than a 3-run game in the late innings.

So true... many more plays and strategies to use when you only need 1.

According to NKYFAN,

Noelle Butts with 9 K's for the 2 hit shut out. Freshman Teresa Urban was 3-4.

Big conference win for the Cru. This is what I expected from Butts, one of the best pitchers in NKY. However, I was thinking St. Henry would score a few more runs, but Brossart does play very good defense. Good luck to both teams.
