May 15, 201313 yr Author The Cats right the ship with a 5-3 win over Indiana this evening. The final series of the season starts Thursday at 7 in Columbia against Missouri. Only the divisions winners receive automatic bids to the SEC tournament. Under the new 12 team structure, the remaining 10 positions are seeded based on the conference winning percentages of the remaining teams, regardless of division. SEC Announces Change to Annual Baseball Tournament > SEC > NEWS Kentucky is currently holding the 11 seed with Missouri 2 games back of them in the 12th position. The Cats are not a lock for the tournament, yet. Texas A&M is at Tennessee and Auburn is hosting Arkansas this weekend. Those game are significant. If Kentucky can sweep this weekend, Tennessee takes at least 2 from A&M, and Arkansas wins at least 2 in Auburn, the Cats can jump from 11 to 9 and knock Missouri from the tournament. There are other scenarios where the Cats could move up to 10th, but if Kentucky can win just one of the games, they will clinch, at least, the 12th seed, regardless of what else happens. However, if Kentucky gets swept and Tennessee sweeps A&M, the Vols would take the 12th position based on conference winning percentage, not to mention head to head. UT took 2 from UK in Lexington about a month ago. Kentucky, at that point, would be on the outside looking in and the is season over. Don't want that. Come on Kentucky. Get at least one. Once you're in the Tourney, anything can happen.
