Highlands 49 Beechwood 38

Featured Replies

Final on Sr Night at Highlands.

Birds were cold as ice in first half and Beechwood drilled 5 treys to jump out 22-18.

Early in the 2nd half Beechwood went up 31-21 and the Birds called a timeout.

They then proceeded to end the game on a 27-7 run as they turned up the defensive pressure and clawed back.

Witte drilled a huge trey down 32-30 to give the Birds their first lead of the game. Luke Turner then got hot drilling a 3 and some nice Jumpers.

Very nice finish for the Birds at home as they win their 3rd in a row.

Congrats on the victory. Q, was it a bit emotional tonight for you?

Just want to mention, the Fieger kid did a nice job for Beechwood. He was getting hounded by the bigger, stronger and older Witte most of the Night but kept his composure and has excellent quickness. He is going to be a really good player over the next few years.

Congrats to the birds on a very nice win on senior night. Great to close out the regular season with a win on senior night and three wins in a row.

The box score is a bit deceiving. With 1:20 to go in the third quarter HHS had 19 points. They had tallied 1 point in the entire third qtr. Down at that point 29 to 19.

Finished the 3rd with an 8 - 3 run, then completely dominated the 4th qtr. Game ended with a 30 to 9 run. Kind of nice to be on the winning side of one of those runs.

Nice for the 4 seniors to finsih the regular season with a win on senior night. One thing you could never question about these 4 young men was their desire and their effort. Even with the ups and downs of this season, they came to play each and every night. This team did win 12 regular season ballgames, 4 more regular season wins than last years group. Good luck Tuesday night versus NCC.

I think the Birds could have mustered 3-4 more wins with a healthy Team this year. Houliston sat out the winnable Pikeville tourney where they lost to Betsy Layne by 7 and Harlan Co by 5. They should have won the Dixie game with Houliston on the line but no foul called at buzzer after he is pummeled. The Holy Cross game was a winnable game as well but hard to win at the Finn Center When you cant get a foul called.

Losing Hergott to ACL in the 3rd game, Buten to a torn Labrum about mid season and Houliston battling knee issues really took its toll and they still finished the season strong. NCC just happens to have their best team in the last 15 yrs. I really wish the blind draw didnt exist. I like Our chances beating Newport on Our home floor in Districts better than beating the #1 ranked Breds. However, you just never know, thats why they toss the ball up.

NCC will be as tough task on Tuesday Night for sure.

Good to see the seniors get some Ws at the end of the season.
