PurplePride92 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Final from Danville. Christian Gateskill-Fuqua went for 29 tonight on 12-23 shooting as Danville came from behind to defeat Boyle County tonight. Huge confidence building win for Danville coming on the heels of starting center Devonta Alcorn quitting the team yesterday. Boyle had no answer for Christian as he got hot late in the 2nd quarter and his hot shooting carried over into the second half. I believe Danville took their first lead of the game early in the 4th quarter and after a few lead changes Danville took control with a 41-37 lead and never looked back. Brett Jones had 18 for Boyle and Hagen Tyler had 14. Boyle couldn't throw it in the ocean tonight and at times seemed to watch Christian score instead of playing their regular stifling defense. Boyle is now 5-1 in the district and I believe Danville is now 3-2 and locked into one of the middle seeds set to play Lincoln County in the district tournament.
Jumper_Dad Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 1. What happened with Alcorn? 2. Does this make you rethink your regional rankings?
Wireman Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I said a few weeks ago that Christian Gateskill-Fuqua needed to shoot more for Danville to be successful. He's a good looking player.

PurplePride92 Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 1. What happened with Alcorn? 2. Does this make you rethink your regional rankings? 1. I was told he was upset that he wasn't getting the ball and quit in the middle of practice yesterday. 2. Already addressed that in the 12th Region thread.
Wireman Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 He definitely shot more tonight. He should shoot 25-30 times a game.
PurplePride92 Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 He should shoot 25-30 times a game. Agreed. He made a huge difference tonight with his 23 shots. He got off any shot he wanted.
