Tied #2 - Ryle and St. Henry. Ryle may have a better season than St. Henry this year, but it will be close.

 

#1 - Notre Dame. The only team that can beat ND this year in the State of KY is ND. They are loaded every year, but this one is well above normal for ND. That said, it looks like they had some off-season turmoil - will it divide them or unite them?

 

Honorable Mention: Holy Cross . . and . . anyone else??? Campbell Co made it to state (thanks to a soft 10th Region - just ask NCC how they like being in the 9th now) - will CC be even better this year?

NDA's off season turmoil is a shame! With that being said, they will have the players to finally win another State title. But, that seems to be the case every year!

It's a lonely job. Enquirer selected Camp Co rookie coach as coach of the year thanks to their state run. Impressive. Any other thoughts from anyone on the Enquirer fall sports all-stars that just came out yesterday?

It's hard to argue the volleyball first team. Again it is NDA dominating the field. There are some well deserving players that only got Honorable Mention. The Enquirer at least needs to do a Second Team for the KY schools since we don't have division like Ohio.

I don't disagree with you about adding the second team. I pushed for it this year in football and got it and hopefully moving forward in the other sports we can do the same. Print space is one issue I was told we hadn't done that in the past, but that doesn't mean we can't do it moving forward.

Mercy graduated 3 players (who did not even play much and had little impact on the outcome of any matches...they will be loaded next year)

Assumption graduated 3 players (more impact players for sure but Assumption always reloads).

NDA graduated 3 players (2 of which were impact players)

 

So to assume that NDA is a shoo in for a State Title is absurd. They will, and should, dominate in Northern Kentucky but unless the parents start to buy in on Coach Lanham and her staff, it will be, again, an uphill climb.

 

The players need to have great off seasons and come in ready to do the work necessary to make a state title a reality.

 

To lay this at the feet of Coach Lanham and not take into account all of the pieces of the puzzle...again absurd. She can only control what she does and what the players do in her time with them. The parents control the rest.

If Coach Lanham felt it was necessary to make a change then I support her 100%. NDA will be just fine without Coach Long and I'm sure he will land on his feet somewhere else.

I am sure it is just a coincidence that he was let go after NDA's biggest threat in the 9th region (St. Henry) for the past 4 years graduated a couple of the best players in the region and will be down a bit. It should be relatively easy sailing for the Pandas this upcoming season in the 9th.

 

I know Matt was instramental in getting the NDA program national exposure with the trips to Las Vegas and Chicago (along with being in constant contact with Prepvolleyball.com) as well as assisting with the girls recruiting.

 

Has NDA's schedule been completed for the 2013 season? Trips to Las Vegas and Chicago again?

 

I just hope the momentum and exposure Matt helped build for the NDA program over the years doesn't subside with his departure.
