Estill County 62 Owsley County 58

Featured Replies

Engineers get by Owsley. This game was not as close as the score shows. Estill lead right around 20 before Estill pulled the starters for the JV players in the 3rd, Owsley made a run to get back in it and at the start of the 4th Estill put their starters back out. Owsley got to within 2 down the stretch but Estill made their free throws when they needed to and came out with the win. They were 4 techincal's called. 1 on Owsley's HC, 1 on Estill's bench and double technical's on the floor, Grove (Owsley) and Alexander (Estill). With the win Estill improves to 7-9 (4-2 region) (3-0 district). Owsley falls to 6-10, (4-6 region) (2-2 district). Estill is now in first in the district as they will travel to Stanton next Friday to take on the Powell County Pirates.

No, I wasn't able to make it. Had a doctor's appointment in Lexington this afternoon and didn't make it back in time. Sounds like it was a good game.

It started to become a good game down the stretch when Estill pulled their starters to rest them and Owsley made a run, then Bentley put the starters back in at the beginning of the fourth.. I don't know how many boards Allen had but pretty sure he had double double (points & boards). Morris for Estill had 15 pts & 16 boards. Coach Green was called for a Technical in the second quarter for arguing with the ref. The technical on Estill's bench came sometime in the fourth. Alexander and Grove got their T's going after a lose ball which ended up in a tie up and things kinda got heated, it wasn't bad no punches or anything were thrown just two teams giving it all to win an important distirct game. I may be wrong about this but I believe if Estill beats both Powell and Lee then no matter what happens against Owsley on February 1st they've got the 1 seed locked down. Now does Powell have to beat Owsley @ Owsley by 3 or more to keep from getting the 4th seed?

Powell has to beat Estill and Owsley (and beat Owsley by 4 points) in order to be a 3 seed. The Pirates have yet to win a game in district play, and ha e games remaining at home vs Estill and away vs Owsley. Owsley has won 2 district games (2-2) with 2 remaining, both home vs Estill and Powell.
