4th Region All 'A' Classic Preview

Featured Replies

The Favorite

Clinton County (11-5) - Last year the Bulldogs entered the 4th Region All "A" with just a single loss on the year and boasting one of the strongest profiles in the region. Unfortunately they drew the region favorite Glasgow in the first game, and despite a strong effort, they fell to the Scotties, as they would again when they met in the region tournament in March. This year, however, they appear to only have one possible peer in Russellville, and also have the advantage of serving as tournament host. That gets them the nod over Russellville here. None of the other teams boast a top win on their resume like Clinton County's victory over Russell County, and their sole loss in the region at-large was on the road at Warren Central.

The Contender

Russellville (9-7) - Much like the rest of the region, the Panthers have had an up and down year. They have losses to Muhlenberg County and Allen County-Scottsville on their resume. They also have double digit wins over Warren East and South Warren. The Panthers enter winners of five of their last six, the lone loss coming to a Doss team that has won 11 of their last 12. Russellville got a decent first round draw, facing off against 6-9 Cumberland County, which figures to be a comfortable win for the Panthers.

The Dark Horse

Monroe County (8-7) - The Falcons lost some close contests in December to teams like Russell County and Glasgow, but appear to have improved as the year has gone on. They're not as good as Clinton County and Russellville, and have suffered the aforementioned loss to Glasgow, but have turned in strong performances against Allen County-Scottsville and Bowling Green in the last week. They also got the best opening draw, running up against a hopelessly overmatched Metcalfe County team that the Falcons have already beaten by 39 this season.

Ranking The Teams

1) Clinton County

2) Russellville

3) Monroe County

4) Glasgow

5) Todd County Central

6) Cumberland County

7) Metcalfe County

Predictions

Semifinalists - Monroe County, Russellville, Glasgow, Clinton County

I'll take RVK in the finals over Clinton.

I saw Clinton first hand, and I think they're well coached.

Same here...had the chance to see them against Covcath and while they were outmatched in that game, you could tell they are a pretty solid team when it comes to teams of their size/enrollment.

As for the preview, good stuff DF.
