Lee County 59 Owsley County 55

I am sure Lee won, but score might be slightly off. I first heard Lee by four, but got this score. In any event, think it locks Lee in for number 2 seed in district. Five wins in a row for Lee, including a tough one over Ryle.

Lee County 59-55 Is what I have. Owsley 3 straight losses and it doesn't get any easier as they travel to Estill County on Friday. I'll come up with something here in a little while as soon as I get some scorers.

Your score probably right. Lee needed to win by three.

Bobcats go on the road and get a big district win over Owsley. Bobcats needed to win by 3 and they did just that. Bobcats now improve to 10-5 overall (6-3 region) (3-2 district) Owsley County falls to 6-9 overall, (4-5 region) (2-1 district). Big big loss for the Owls. I don't have any scorers for this one as of yet but I'm assuming Tyler Evans had 20+ for Lee.

Next Up;

Lee County; host Magoffin County on Thursday.

Owsley County; travels to Irvine Friday night to take on the Engineers in a big district showdown.

This game was tied with about a 1:30 left. Owsley missed 4 free throws (and one was a front end bonus) in the last 2 minutes. Lee came down and scored to go up by 2. Then Owsley missed more free throws and Lee went into a stall with a 2 point lead. Owsley was forced to foul. Lee hit their free throws to protect the lead and won. The deciding factor came down to free throws in the last minute of the game.

The game was close throughout, with neither team ever leading by more than 5 or 6. It was tied at the half at 27-27. Exciting game in a good rivalry.

Owsley has 2 district games remaining with Estill County and one with Powell at home. They're still in good shape on the seeding. I don't think Powell has won any district games, and even if they beat Owsley that would only give them one win. The main thing is to get a 2 or 3 seed and stay away from district host Estill County in the first round of play. Owsley's best scenario is to play Lee in the first round. Those two match up about as even as possible.

Estill has two chances to win back to back district titles maybe for the first time in school history (I'll have to check Friday) this year and next year with the team they'll have returning. Alexander (6'8 C), Trevor and Trenton Jenkins, Randy King, Josh Baber (Colby Baber's littler brother), Caleb Click and plus they'll have Trevor Jones back. Other than Estill I think every other team in the district losses a ton. Lee returns Randy Mays who is deadly from 3. Owsley has Shelby, Grove, Both Hall's, Mason. The teams that Lee and Powell lose hurts them but it doesn't make anything any easier with districts next year being at Lee County, that's a hard place to go and win especially with the district title on the line.

Owsley returns all their players next year with the exception of Izaiah Allen. He will definitely be missed, though.
