Discussion of the 6th Region Preview

Butler is to high ! No problem with the top two until someone knocks them out of their spot. Players.. Rakes, Payne to low should be higher on this list at least top 5!

What players would you replace them with from the top5?

Harris and Hunter are to high!! Hunter didn't even start for Butler the games I watched and likes to stand at the three point line to much. Harris gets lost a lot and gets taken out of the game to easy. I watched a ton of the 6th region last year and they just didn't look that good to me! Willis,Troutman are good picks but Rakes makes them look good a lot of the time! Payne was drawing a lot of double teams and had a lot of chasers on him when I was watching some of his games last year so the coaches around clearly knew he was their best player! I believe all of these kids are in the K.O.B this year and the L.I.T so it should be a fun year of ball!

I'll agree and disagree, first off though I would love to put Trey Rakes higher he's a great kid and my favorite PG in the state. That being said, I can't move either up anymore in my mind. Harris and Hunter both have their faults but are in my mind two of the top 3 most talented kids in the Region. Harris had a phenomenal Summer and was a major member of the Louisville Magic and Hunter is very versatile and a very good defender.

However, it is very close between the top players in the 6th and the teams ranked 3-10 in the 6th so it will be a very interesting year.

Taywon Taylor at PRP is the best (along with James Quick at Trinity) on ball defender in the city. Strength, balance, and tenacity make him a nightmare for opposing scorers. His defense and open court steals will make him a double figure scorer as well. He will have several games at or above 20 points. His stat lines for 2011-12 may not be eye-popping, but the opponent who is guarded by Taylor this year will vouch for the fact that he is a top-10 player in the region.

Jaelin Sanford at Moore and Cory Thomas at Fairdale are also two of very best point guards in the city, and each possesses great quickness and an ability to score in a variety of ways. Combine these two with Antonio McDaniels at PRP and Quentin Snider at Ballard, and the Class of 2014 in Louisville has an unbelievable collection of talent at the point.

6'7 wing players who can run, shoot, block shots, and win are always going to get more interest from Division 1 coaches than 6'2 or 6'3 wing players. As Harris and Hunter get stronger and bigger, they will be the most highly sought-after (if they are not already) kids in region. Derek Willis and Josh Payne are both outstanding perimeter shooters. Being 6'9 gets you opportunities that Payne can't get.

I know it's going to be a fun year and there's a lot of talent the next couple of years!!!

Rusty Trotman is on of my favorite players in the 6th region. Expect big things from him this year.

Really like Sanford, I feel like he's the guy at the end of the year that I'll kick myself for not putting in my top 10 players.

I agree that Rusty Troutman is one of the best if not the best in the 6th. I know he is the hardest worker and the smartest basketball player on the floor everytime he steps out. I do agree that Rakes is one of the best point guards out there. I have also seen Butler and really like McReynolds as a player he is the kind of guy that just takes over a game and he seems so reserve out on the floor. Really like McReynolds and Butler but Bullitt East is going to RUPP.
