BGGreen Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Congrats Royals for getting back on track in the win side. This was a good game and took OT to get it done.Up next for Mason LexCath. Sounds like a good "bounceback game" for Campbell after the Holmes game, as it took overtime for Mason to get the job done. Camels proving they can play with the cream of the crop in the 10th. Another good win for Mason. Big game for CCHS looming with Scott!!

Yeah Camels played well,White is a stud and Walker looks like a good one also.
Butterfly Baby Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 The Scott kid can really play. I was very impressed with him tonight. White for Campbell can play as well
mcpapa Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Scott had 33 on 11-13 shooting (5-5 from 3) and 6-8 from the line. Without his career game, Mason would have lost. Micah Turner had 17 points and 9 boards in 16 minutes (foul trouble). Still lots of improvement needed from the Royals to go deep in the regional tournament. They gave up WAY too many easy shots; seemed like they were in the air after every ball fake. Stood around a lot on offense. White from Campbell County had a great game; he looked more fundamentally sound than anyone else on the floor. Mason frittered away a 7-point lead with just under 2 minutes to play through a combination of missed free throws and turnovers; Campbell County just seemed to run out of gas in the OT after clawing back to tie (White actually had a halfway decent look at the buzzer, but that was one of the few shots he missed). Sooner or later Mason will have to grow up and put people away in the final stages of games; Turner fouling out had something to do with not being able to do that last night. Word has it that Royals' coach O'Hearn was FURIOUS at the effort on defense; as I said, lots of improvement needed as they surrendered entirely too many easy looks.
Old Soda Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 What kind of game did Darius Miller have for Mason and Marcus Clines for Campbell?
ballerm Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 No sour grapes but.............the four "missed" goaltending calls against Mason in regulation really hurt the Camels. And Brett White was fouled on his three point attempt late in regulation but once again no call. I know I have a purple heart but even some Mason Co faithful around me stated the same. You may not call one goaltending but four! Marcus Clines fouled out mid 4th quarter with 6 points which also really hurt the Camels in OT. Great game for Brett White and Kenny Walker. The Camels are improving every game.
mcpapa Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Miller had 11 points, a little below-average game by his standards. I think freshman guard Russ Middleton was under the weather; he did have 10 points but didn't see nearly as much playing time as usual. Clines had 6 points, fouled out and is in need of an attitude adjustment; although in his defense, maybe he let the fans sitting behind him get under his skin. Discussion board rules prohibit me from elaborating. I forgot about Walker; he did have a good game for the Camels and showed a nice touch at the free-throw line. I saw one block by Miller that I thought was goaltending; I didn't see four. However, I missed the early part of the game and some of those calls could have happened then. The "non-call" on the 3-point attempt at the buzzer is par for the course - unless someone gets mauled, a possible touch foul on a 30-footer at the buzzer isn't going to be called. I also thought Mason got a break on the opening tip of OT; but as usual there were a couple of calls that went the other way as well. Evidently it's now okay to grab an opponent's leg for dear life during a scramble for a loose ball; that non-call has gone against the Royals two games in a row. One of CC's guards palms the ball just about every step, but that's never called anymore either; and if it's not going to be called I guess it's okay. As usual, Coach Reitz brings a good fundamental ball club with him; I don't claim to be a student of the game but it seems like he generally gets a lot out of his teams.
kyhoops#23 Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 If Reitz can get past Cov. Scott in the district, then who knows against BB. I would also be willing to bet there would be a lot of coaches in the 10th that wouldn't want to draw the Camels come March.
mcpapa Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 23, you've got that right. From what I saw last night, CC is one of those teams that no one wants to draw at tournament time.
mhighfield Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Brett White uses screens very well,He totally left Darius Miller on several occasions in this game. There were several bad calls in this game or no calls that was against both teams.Refs didnt decide it because there were several both ways missed.I thought they let it get veryu physical also.
